Dad Blocks

Lori here from ScrappinMyStressAway with a fun project for Dad.

I had a special request for a Father's Day gift for my neighbor.  She is one of my best customers -she researches fun projects and asks me to make them for her!!

I took photos of her three grandkids and copied them in black and white on photo paper.  I had some 3" blocks left over from some home décor from years ago.  Yes I keep things for years hoping to repurpose them...No I am not a hoarder!!!
I cut out two sets of letters spelling Dad and put them on two sides of the block.  I decided to put them on opposite sides so you could see pictures on each side of the letters.

I trimmed the pictures and used mod podge to adhere them.  I put a coat of mod podge on the block and another coat on top of the photo.  Once the blocks dried, I added a final coat of mod podge.
Kyle loved his gift and is going to put these on his desk.

When my son was a baby, I made smaller blocks that spelled his name and had photos of him.  I still have those 9 years later!!

Thanks Sheila for letting my share this project with you on your blog!!

Glitter Vinyl Frame

Hello - today I am featured at The Buckle Boutique BLOG.  I have been using a lot of Glitzy Glitter Vinyl lately and I have to say I just love it!!  It is very smooth - the glitter is really pressed into the vinyl.  I wanted to do something a little bit different today so I decided to stick the vinyl on a wood frame.
I took a frame from Michaels for $1 and some purple glitter vinyl.
I traced the frame on the back of the vinyl and cut it out.
Looks good!
I peeled the backing off and slowly stuck the vinyl down on the frame.  I had to peel it off once (or twice) to get it just right - but no worries it did not crease or bend and was still super sticky!!
I found a pretty picture (from our last Disney trip) that matched the frame.  I ran ribbon behind the photo and over the edges and used a beautiful heart ribbon slide.

I can easily change the photo and ribbon in the future.

This frame now looks very fancy and sparkly!!!

Flag Shutter

I hope you had a wonderful 4th of July if you live in the US!!  Lori here from ScrappinMyStressAway with a fun holiday project (Pinterest Inspired) made from a reclaimed shutter.

First I pulled off the bars on the front of the shutter - the ones you move up and down to open and close the shutters.  In order to keep the bars from twirling after the bar is removed, I taped the back of the shutters.

I spray painted the shutterwhite - I did 3 coats.

Next came the fun part!!  I used painter's tape to tape off all of the parts I wanted to keep white.  I then spray painted the red stripes.  Again it took 3 coats.
On the other side of the newspaper is a star I cut out of vinyl.  I spray painted that section blue.

I had a little overspray but a little white acrylic paint and paintbrush worked perfectly to cover that up!

I put the shutter in my front yard near my porch.  My friend keeps offering to take it off my hands for me!!  I had fun making this project, but it was a lot more work than I thought it would be!!

Baseball is Life Layout

Today at Frosted Designs our new challenge is Red, White and/or Blue, Something Old and Something New.

I was thinking 4th of July, but baseball just fit for me right now!  I hoard baseball paper and both of these papers are Old!!!  I rarely use rub ons but still buy them......the Baseball Is Life is a rub on and it is also Old!!  It describes my life at this very moment.  I am typing this as we get ready to leave for State Baseball this morning!

This photo is of my Husband (coach) Middle Son (coach) and Youngest Son (player) after winning our annual tournament on Father's Day.  Proud of all three of these boys!!
I used my New burlap ribbon and metal charm.  The charm says LOVE LIFE and the metal goes with the trophy in the photo!

I hope you join us at Frosted Designs with a fun project of your own!!!

Champs Layout (Let's Scrap)

Today begins a brand new sketch challenge at Let's Scrap!  My son's team recently got their first 1st Place finish this season - at our tournament on Father's Day!  It was amazing!!  We had one 3rd place finish and two 2nd place finishes (lost by one point and lost by two points in the championship games).

This sketch was perfect for the photos I had!  I used patterned paper instead of flowers.
I used my cameo and Freshman font to create the journal tags.  The third tag, Champs, was adhered to the team photo holding up the trophy.  I have been waiting to use this trophy paper!!!
Instead of a banner flag, I used my Cameo to print out this crossed bat and ball image.  I fussy cut it and adhered it to the top of this photo of him.  We play for the Storm Chasers - our sponsor is the Omaha Storm Chasers - the KC Royals minor league team.  I found this paper at my local scrapbook store!
So proud of this team!  I was so happy for the dads that the team won for them on Father's Day!!
