Love Bug Bobble Card (Sassy Day)

I am a Guest Designer for Sassy today and I made a love bug bobble card.
In order to make your own bobble, you will need some wire, wire cutters, 1 inch circle punch and tape.  I cut out 4 circles from white cardstock.  I cut a 4 inch (or so) piece of 22 gage beading wire.  I wrapped the wire around a sharpie marker to coil it up.

I poked a hole in the center of two of the circles.

I twisted the wire through the hole, bent it down and secured it with tape.

I repeated this step with the other side.

I used my tape runner to adhere the remaining two circles to the bobble.

Here is a side view of my completed bobble.  I set it aside and started designing my card.

I selected the love bug from Simply Charmed.   I put all the layers and the sentiment on my mat.  The layers are 2.25" high and the sentiment is 1" high.

I sized and separated the pieces on the mat.

I wanted some extra hearts, so I took the heart layer and used my Hide Contour feature to hide the inner cut.

Here is the hide contour button.

I placed my paper on the mat to correspond with the layers of my project.

Here they are after the cutting is complete.

I ran the layers of the bug and the sentiment through my 5" Xyron.

Isn't she cute all put together?!?

I put the bobble on with a glue dot.

Next, I made the card.  I recently saw a similar card and wanted to make my own.  I made a prototype on the pink paper first.  You cut a piece of 4 x 12 paper.  Score at 2, 4, 8 and 10 inches.

Fold back and forth as shown above.

My template was hard to see in the photo, so I used my sharpie to darken the next folds with these fab lines!  The  next folds (X) were tricky.  I decided it would be best to mark the center point.

I made a pencil dot at the center of the card on both sides.  I made my dot on the back of the paper.

I used the triangular ruler from the bottom of my Martha Stewart Score Pal and turned my paper 45 degrees.  I lined up the center point with the bottom of the inner fold (4 inches in from the end of the card).  I flipped it over and scored the other side the same way.  I made a total of 4 scores to create 2 Xs.

I bent in the sides so the triangles touched.  I glued my bug and sentiment on and the result is the card below.

I ended up not using the extra hearts for this project.  I really like this card.  I will include this one in our big envelope of Valentine's For Vets that my daycare kids and I send every year!

Thanks, Sheila, for having me on your blog today!
