This week's challenge at Frosted Designs is to use ribbon or twine on your project. I have been wanting to make a ribbon dress for a while, so I thought this would be a great time to do it! My cousin had a birthday last month and every year I get later and later at sending her a card. Thank goodness she forgives me!!!
I cut out this girl from Forever Young at 6". I took some red satin ribbon, adhesive and tape and got started.
I put some ATG tape along the bottom of the dress. I folded the ribbon over the adhesive.
I used scotch tape to fasten the ribbon to the back of the dress.
I kept layering more ribbon on the dress until I got to the arms. I cut off the arms so I could wrap the ribbon around to the back.
When I got to her waist, I quit folding the ribbon and just adhered it flat.
Here is what the back looks like.
I took a thin silver glittery ribbon to make a sash.
I cut out a second girl and glued her to the back. This hid my ends and also gave me a smooth surface to adhere to the card.
I matted the girl with silver paper and used red and silver ribbon to frame her in. I cut my card from white paper with irridescent flowers on it. This paper is white on the back, which is the inside of the card. I stamped Happy Birthday in red inside the card.
Be sure to create your own project with ribbon or twine and post it to Frosted Designs ~ you could win a prize!!
