All About Dads ~ Blog Hop

Welcome to the All About Dads blog hop.  If you are just getting started, please to HERE to begin the hop.  If you arrived from Kathy's Blog, you are in the right place!

In our family, everything revolves around sports.  I am the only girl in the group and the only non-athlete!!  Thank goodness for my craft room!  I decided not to fight the sports theme and make my husband a Penant Card for Father's Day.

I used the penant from Baseball and #1 DAD from Varsity Letter.

This is what happens sometimes when I use cheap, thin paper and Calligraphy Collection cartridge.

I opened a new layer by tapping on the + in the top left corner.

I highlighted the #1 DAD and sentiment (turned them blue).

Went back to my new Layer and tapped on Copy/Paste from the Advanced Menu.  This way I only will cut out the parts I need to and not waste paper.

I load my paper back into the cricut.

This time the #1 DAD cuts fine, but the sentiment is chewed up again.  Time for a different font!!

I erased the cuts I just made and added a new sentiment from Wild Card.

I used the same paper, so I just made sure the new sentiment was moved over a bit.

I adhered the sentiment inside the card.  I scored the back half of the card 1/4 inch from the top.  I punched two holes in the side and ran baker's twine through them.

Here is another look at my Father's Day card.  Of course, I have blog candy here in addition to the Blog Hop Candy cricut cartridge (see below).

In order to qualify for this Tim Holtz Grungeboard, you need to #1 be or become a follower, #2 leave me a way to contact you if you are my winner, and #3 tell me one thing you love about your dad, father fiugure or grandpa.  I have so many memories of my Dad and his boat....I love that he used to let me drive it when I was little (sitting in his lap of course)!

Your next stop on our hop is DDs Crafts.

Don't forget to visit all of the stops to be eligible for the Cricut Cartridge A Child's Year.
Here is a list of the participants in our hop in case you get lost:

  9. Sometimes the simplest designs give us the most trouble. I have the same problem when I use soft cardstock. Your finished card turned out great!

  19. What a great card! So frustrating when the cricut rips up the paper. I waste more time when trying to cut thru thin paper. I try to stick to cardstock. :-)

I don't have a father or a grandfather (or even a father figure as my uncle lives overseas) - but am thankful that my children have a wonderful father. He's so giving of himself and his time. He doesn't just tell our kids that he loves them, he shows them that he does.
