And now, here is how I made my project:
I started with a Composition Book and this school bus paper from Me & My Big Ideas paper pad Off To School. I found this at Michaels. I love this paper (yes, I know I have a paper addiction) but each paper in this pad is cardstock thickness!!!
I traced and cut the school bus paper to cover the front and back of the Comp. book. I used my ATG gun to adhere it to the covers. I bought this 7Gypsy tape years ago and used it on the front cover by the spine.
I got out my Gypsy and found an apple from Plantin Schoolbook sized at 4.0w x 4.26h. I copied a second apple and drug it mostly off the page. I wanted to cut the leaf and stem out in green and did not want to waste paper. I found "Once Upon a Time" from Story Time and cut it out at 3.74w x 2.53h.
Here are my cuts.
I like to leave my pieces on the mat until they are assembled. This way I don't lose any!! I used my 5" Xyron to adhere the title on the apple.
I put the apple on the cover on the lower right side. I tied some black twine on the left side. I ran some green twine through my Xyron.
I put the green twine on the leaf.
I tied a red twine bow and put it on the apple.
I changed out the black twine with this red and white ribbon next to the spine. The twine was getting lost in the busy background paper! I am giving this to my son's kindergarten teacher so she can journal her story of this school year!
No hop is complete without Blog Candy!!! In order to qualify for my blog candy, you need to #1 be or become a follower or email subscriber, #2 leave me a comment about your favorite thing about back to school time. Mine is shopping for school supplies!! #3 please leave me a way to contact you if you win!!!
Thank you so much for hopping through the Back To School Blog Hop today!! I hope you will enjoy the rest of your hopping experience!! Your next stop in the hop is the Divine DANA!!
This is super cute and I love the idea of using it for a journal!
