Best Ever Papa Card

Welcome to the Erica's Craft Room Grandparent's Day Blog Hop.  We are celebrating Grandparents Day which is tomorrow!

If you found me first, please go to Erica's BLOG to begin the hop.  If you get lost along the way I have included the Blog Line Up below:

My boys all have a special relationship with their Papa (my father-in-law) and I wanted to make him a special card for Grandparent's day.

I took advantage of one of the Cricut Digital carts that were free on my Gypsy for the month of August (or until you update your Gypsy after August).  I am a circle member and I have quite a bit of free digi carts right now so I have been cutting like crazy!!!

I used one of the images on the Father's Day - Daddy digital cart.  I made it into a card.

I put the shadow image of the Best Ever Daddy cut on my mat at 3 inches.  I copied and pasted another image.  I flipped and welded it to the top of the original image to create my card base.

I cut the card base out of white cardstock.

I put the rest of the layers on Layer 2.

I used Hide Contour to hide the inner cuts to line up the word DADDY.

I wanted to use PAPA instead of DADDY.  I used the font from CM Cheerful Seasons and rotated the word PAPA 15.00.  The word fit when the letters were sized to .73 inches.

I cut out the layers in cardstock.  Papa loves baseball, so I used a baseball paper as the background paper and red, white, blue and black cardstock for the rest of the layers.

I used the template from PAPA to line up my letters on the banner.

I assembled the rest of the card front and adhered it to the card base.

Here is my card for the "Best Papa Ever" for Grandparent's Day!

How do you celebrate Grandparent's Day?

Thanks for stopping by ~ your next stop in the hop is the Talented TARA!

  13. What a fun PAPA card. Love the way you welded and hid. TFS the tips. I haven't jumped into CCR yet and I don't own a Gypsy, but now I will be able to know who to ask. It turned out fabulous. Love the color scheme, too. For Grandparent's Day, I like to take a moment to reflect on the small amount of memories I have of my Grandma and to be thankful that my kids still have both of their Grandmas, a Pappy, a Great-Grandma, and their Great-Great Grandparents on their Dad's side. It is a beautiful thing to see Grandparents interact with children. For that, I am truly thankful. So happy to follow you and to be a part of this wonderful hop with you!

  22. This is very sweet! I love how you shared the process that you used to assemble the cuts on the program. My kids call their granfathers "papa" too and finding a ready made card with that title on it is rare, which is a good excuse to make your own!

  27. Awwwww.... I love that your kiddos have such a special relationship with their Papa. The shaped card is lovely! I will be the first to say that I have not jumped onto the CCR bandwagon ... I haven't been there at all, at least not yet. I didn't join the Circle either (are you re-joining?), so I can only admire your work with that from afar.

You're one of my very favorite blog-peeps!! Of COURSE I am a follower!!!
