Trick or Treat Vinyl Project (BugBytes)

I love Halloween Month (aka October) and today I am super excited to be the Guest Designer on The Bug Bytes!!  I made a fun little Halloween vinyl project!

I started with a 4x12 piece of staple back canvas from Michaels.  I painted it with orange acrylic paint.

Next, I got my gypsy and looked for a Halloween phrase.

I used this phrase from Happy Hauntings and sized it to 11.39 width x 3.59 height.
I wanted a purple spider, so I copied and pasted the phrase and used Hide Contour to hide the "Trick" and "Treat" and moved the "or" to the bottom left quarter of my mat.

When cutting vinyl, I set my Expression to 3-3-3 (speed, pressure and needle depth) for a nice kiss cut.

If you want a more detailed Vinyl tutorial, please go HERE.

I carefully trimmed the spider off the "r" after I weeded the extra vinyl away.

I used my transfer tape to put the purple spider on top of the black spider.

Now my layered vinyl is ready to transfer to my canvas.

I used my black and white Smash Tape to edge the canvas.

This was a fun little project that I will add to my decorations on my entryway table!!

Thanks Pam for having me over today!!!

  1. Love your "trick or treat" sign. I am intimidated by vinyl but after seeing this cute sign I want to try it... have a cricut and a gypsy ;) Now to figure out my project! Thanks for the inspiration... love the tape around the edges of your canvas! Kathi
