Members Day at the Zoo Layout

This week starts a new sketch challenge over at Let's Scrap!!!

I live near the Omaha Zoo - it was recently rated the #1 Zoo in the world.  That just amazes me as I go there all the time and probably take it for granted.  Once a year they have Members Day.  On Members Day, you can do many hands on activities, watch animal feedings and enrichments, and go on behind the scenes tours.

This year was the first time I have been behind the scenes in the Giraffe House.  We got to walk on an inside cat walk and come face to face with them!

Tanner brought his best bud Jadon.  It was fun to show Jadon upstairs in the Aquarium for his first time!!
Here is the sketch I used.  I chose to use both pages as I had several photos.
We have a Kimodo Dragon at our zoo right now.  He typically is lying around so I got excited to see him walk around.  Fun Fact - Kimodo Dragons walk around when they have to urinate!!  If you look closely you might notice that....

I added tram tickets to the layout.
Here are Jadon and Tanner looking down at the baby giraffe.  How funny is that?!?

I trimmed the animal encounter off of a class schedule.  I thought it was perfect for this photo!
I chose Up Close and Personal for my title as we were just that with the Giraffes!!

It was tempting to pet them or feed them, but the zoo keepers did not let us!
Tanner loves animals and loves visiting the zoo.  We get an annual zoo pass and go as often as we can.

I used:
Bo Bunny paper from the Somewhere in Time Collection
Cameo for my words

Wine Glass Lamp Shade

Hello and Happy Saturday!!!  I was looking for some wine glass designs on Pinterst and came upon this tutorial for a lamp shade!!  I thought how fun (I think I am a little ADD - hey look a squirrel!!!).

Where was I?  Oh yeah Pinterest.  Here is a link to the tutorial that I found.  It has a template you can print off too!  LINK
Instead of paper, I used a sheet of Rowlux purple film.  This plastic film is a bit transparent and very easy to work with.  I printed out the template (above) and cut it out.  Note - next time I will print it off onto cardstock paper!!!
I used a pencil to trace the template.  Some parts of the Rowlux sheet were a little wavy so my line was not drawn perfectly, but I thought it was better than the Sharpie I first grabbed!
I rolled up the lamp shade and used this Quick Grip permanent adhesive from Beacon.  I have to be honest here - I was skeptical!  I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly it stuck!  I was afraid I would be left holding the lamp shade for a while - it only took maybe 90 seconds.
Here is the seam.  I did squeeze a bit too much at the top, but the adhesive dries clear!
I grabbed a 15 ounce wine glass and put a battery operated tea light inside.
I set the lamp shade on top - you can see the light!!
I added some pearl trim from Recollections from my stash.
This dainty lamp will look great in my living room!!

Football Bracelet

Hello and Happy Tuesday!!!  Today I am featured at The Buckle Boutique BLOG!!

I have this awesome football slide and wanted to make it into a bracelet.  Many of you know I am a baseball mom - not a football mom - but my friend is both!!  I made this for her to wear at her two sons games.  They have different jersey colors so I stayed with neutral bead colors.  I used Trinket beads from Michaels as they have big holes in them.

I followed this tutorial I found on Pinterest HERE.

I used black leather cord, a toggle clasp, beads and the slide.
I love the bling!  The can be color customized to match your favorite team.
The clasp even looks good!
I sure hope my friend likes this bracelet!  I need to make a baseball one for me next!!

I love using The Buckle Boutique products - you can find the slides HERE.  They have football, baseball and soccer slides and many more!!!

You can see what I did with baseball slides HERE.

Tennis Ball Ornament

I received some awesome Rowlux materials to play with!!  I really loved this tennis ball yellow colored sheet and decided to make something for my niece.  Jenna takes lessons and hopes to be on her high school tennis team when she is a freshman.
I found a tennis ball image at the Silhouette store.  I had to custom my setting in order to cut this material.  I tried the rhinestone template setting and it did not cut all the way through.  I played around with the settings and came up with:  Speed 5, Thickness 33 and Blade set to 8.  I did one cut (no multi cut) and had to pop it out a bit.
Here is me "popping" it out.

I then cut Jenna 2014 out of vinyl using a font from my computer.  I transferred the vinyl to the front of the tennis ball.
I punched a tiny hole in the top with my punch.
I put a jump ring through the hole and strung some thin ribbon.  I chose green so it would camouflage when hung on a Christmas tree.

FireWorks Layout (Let's Scrap)

The sketch challenge this week at Let's Scrap was just perfect for my 4th of July pictures!!

Every year we have a party for the 4th.  As you can see from the top left photo - my husband is the biggest kid when it comes to fireworks!!
You can do one or both pages for the challenge - and even turn or adjust the sketch to fit your pictures!!
I had been hanging onto both of these paper for a long time!!  I had these darling star shaped paper clips for a while too!  I used Glossy Accents to create a dimensional star with the clips.
I cut stars out of the striped G45 paper!  These can be journaled on too.
The fireWORKS title came from the Silhouette store.

The little cutie in this photo is our friend's daughter.  She has been acting shy all baseball season long with my husband.  He purposely sat by the bucket of water for the sparklers she was holding.  Before too long she was high fiving Mike as she put her sparkler in the bucket.  This was better than the fireworks for Mike!
Thanks for stopping by today!  If you want to challenge yourself to scrap your memories you should consider joining the Let's Scrap Community!!

Teacher Gift Card Holder

Today I am featured at The Buckle Boutique!!

I decorated this tin box to use as a gift card holder for Tanner's teacher.

I like to spoil his teachers at the beginning of the year, middle of the year (Christmas) and end of the year (Teacher Appreciation Day)!
I found an apple on the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge (Roly Poly function key) and used my Gypsy to size it to 2.05 x 2.18 to fit my tin.

I used some red Dazzling Diamonds rhinestone sticker sheet.  It cuts in the Cricut Machine with a deep cut blade set at 6, speed 1 and sometimes it needs a multi cut.  The mat needs to be super sticky and to be sure I use packing tape to tape the edges of my sticker sheet down.  It cuts best face down so make sure you reverse your images before you cut them out!
Here is the Cricut in action.
You can see the cut.  This one was a single cut (no multi cut).

I just peeled the sticker sheet off the mat and popped out the apple.
Very shiny!!  I love how you can cut through the diamonds as they are made out of a gel substance.
I put the apple on the front of the tin window.  I used a black and white polka dot washi tape around the edge of the box.
I used a scrap of black vinyl to cut Ms. Hunt's name and adhered it to the front.  This way she can re-use the box for some small trinkets or storage.
I popped in the gift card and added a tulle ribbon.

You can find the red Dazzling Diamond Sticker Sheet HERE!

Wonderful Life

Today I am featured at Frosted Designs!!

This photo of my nieces was taken a few weeks ago on vacation.  I just love these two girls!!  We certainly have a Wonderful Life - especially on vacation!!!

I combined elements from a couple of kits to showcase my picture!!

I used White Linen Ink Spray on my chevron paper, rub ons, buttons and some metal bird charms along with tiny flowers and the heart trim ribbon.
I created this embellishment by rubbing a butterfly on the metal piece and sealing it with Glossy Accents.  I hope you cherish and preserve your Wonderful Life moments!!
