Today I am a Guest Designer at TheBugBytes. I spend a lot of time watching my son Tyler play baseball!! He is a catcher and one of the things we say to him is "be a wall." I created this layout today with my cricut markers, cri-kits, paper and ink. Let me show you how!
Both the font and the brick wall are from DC Comics Batman cartridge. When I first got this cartridge, I saw this brick wall and wondered how I could use it in a baseball layout!!
I put it on the screen at 11.66w x 8.82h as I wanted it to be a background for my pictures. I moved it to the bottom of the mat.
I opened a Layer 2 and put the words BE A WALL on the top of the page sized at 1.82h. I welded them together.
I put my Cri-Kits pen holder in my Cricut and put in a red pen.
I drew on the bricks.
Next I put in a black Cricut Marker. I put the same paper in the cricut, but switced my Gypsy to Layer 2 and drew on the title. I wanted a black shadow for the letters, and I also wanted to add some dimension to my layout.
Here is my white paper all drawn on.
I took three ink colors, red, brick red and vintage and started inking the bricks. I used some scrap paper to mask out the outer edges of the wall so I could keep the brick color on the bricks. I used make up sponges to ink the paper.
I went back to the Gypy and cut out the bricks again for the mortor in a gray color and inked it a little with Vintage.
I used pop dots to stick on the words.
I like the raised look.
Here is my layout ~ it looks a little plain....
I found these Fashion Caps at Michaels in black.
I added a circle in blue and a baseball brad with the litte legs snipped off. I tied a little hemp cord knot on the top.
I finished the layout with some Vintage ink around the edges of the page, some more cord, two more baseball brads and a little jornaling spot. This was a fun layout to do!!!
This is an awesome layout. What a great idea. TFS Lori and it's my honor having you all sharing your talent on TheBugBytes. Hugs Pam
ReplyDeleteOh what a clever layout!! I just love how you did the bricks. My DS plays catcher too and I often yell out "Be A Wall Jack" so I may totally have to scraplift this page!! Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteAwesome layout! Love the lettering technique! TFS
