You Matter Card ~ Royal Purple Freedom Blog Hop

Welcome to the Royal Purple Freedom Blog Hop.  You should have arrived from JACKIE'S BLOG.  If you found me first, please go to FAITH to begin the hop.

The purpose of this Blog Hop is to give a handmade card (with a personal message inside) to women in a battered women's shelter.

About 4.8 million intimate partner-related physical assaults and rapes occur every year while many more assaults and rapes go unreported entirely. Over 3 million children witness violence in their home each year and those who see and hear violence in the home suffer physically and emotionally. These statistics are sad and overwhelming, but help IS out there for those that choose to break the silence.

Together we can make a difference! Help us instill some hope where very little probably exists and give 24 families a chance at recovery when we are able to donate 1k dollars to the Bradley Angle House. Your purple themed card(s) with a hope filled message inside could make all the difference, not to mention give YOU a chance to win the grand prize for this hop...what is it you ask? A prize basket valued at more than $100.

Want more chances to win the grand prize? Additional entries will be given for each $1 donation you include with your card. Would you prefer 1 entry, 10 entries, or is 100 entries more of what you had in mind? It's all up to you! Cards must be postmarked by June 30th for inclusion in basket drawings and can be mailed to the following address:
Royal Purple Hop
c/o Vicki Smith
P.O. Box 1496
Millbrook, NY 12545

Here is the card that I made:

I stitched around my purple card stock.  I am not very good at reading (or following) directions and of course my bobbin ran out.  I had to pull out the manual and re-thread a bobbin!!  Some of my stitches got off a bit, but I like the look I ended up with!

I wanted my message to be the biggest part of my card.  I used Don Juan (I love welding these letters) to create my message.

In addition to writing a personal message, I included a copy of this quote I found:

No matter where you are right now, contentment is possible. And if you decide to try it, it will open up your eyes to thousands of blessings that are hiding right under your nose.

Lori Smith  Her book, The Single Truth

I copied the message 6 times so I could make 6 cards.  One of the messages tore, so I improvised on the last card...

I found a butterfly in my stash and used stickles to jazz it up.

I do have some blog candy!  All you have to do to win is #1 be or become a follower, and #2 leave me a comment with 1 - 5 words you would want a woman in crisis to hear.  I will draw a winner on Sunday evening.

There is also a big basket of scrapbook goodies that you can win!  All you need to do is make a card of your own.  In addition to the big basket, some other prizes are:

1 Peachy Keen Stamp Assortement
1 Verve Gift Certificate (it's $25)
1 Spa Basket (candle, CD, bath soap)

Here is a sneak peek, but donations are still coming in (including some cricut cartridges).....
If you would like to make a card (or two) all you need to do is #1 use purple and #2 write a personal message to a woman who is in crisis.  Mail your card to:
   Royal Purple Freedom Hop
c/o Vicki Smith
P.O. Box 1496
Millbrook, NY 12545

for a chance to win the basket crammed with scrapbook goodies!!

You can also donate a check to:  Bradley Angle House to the same address.  THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR CARD OR DONATION ~ EITHER WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIFE OF A FELLOW WOMAN!

Your next stop on the hop is Gina.  If you get lost, here is a complete list of blog hop participants:

Lori A. YOU ARE HERE!!

Thank you so much for hopping with us!!

  7. Lori, your cards are beautiful!! And will mean so much to the receiver!!
My DH was one of these children who watched the abuse and no matter how hard he acted like it didn't bother him when we were first married, I knew it did... Never would let anyone get real close to him in fear they would hurt him..... because even though the physical abuse goes away the hurt remains there for a very long time!!! I'm glad to say that he has finally opened up his heart to the ones that love him very much!!! (BTW his father committed suicide when he was 14) His bother is still not healed and he's 57! Sorry to go on...
    Have a wonderful day!!! Hugs!!
