Thanks Coach - Tennis Card

I typically create scrapbook pages but every now and then I need a card.  I prefer to make my own when I have the time and the supplies on hand!!

I made a card for Tyler's tennis coach at the end of his season to thank him for his time and dedication to our team.  I grabbed my Gypsy and opened up Sports Mania.

I took two of these tennis ball frames from the Frame Option sized to 4 inches..  I used Hide Contour to hide all of the inside cuts from the frame on the left.  I welded the two frames together to create my card base.

I cut the card base out of white cardstock.

Because Sports Mania does not have any layer options, I had to make my own.  I put another tennis frame on Layer 2 of my Gypsy.

This time I used Hide Contour to hide the outside square cut.  I cut this out of yellow cardstock.

Here are my pieces cut out.

I used my scissors to trim around the edges of the tennis ball and adhered it onto the front of the card.

I used a stamp from my go-to Pink by Design set Everyday Occasions.

I just love window cards!!

Thanks for stopping by today!!

Hope Breast Cancer Awareness Card (Sweet Sassy Diva)

This week at Sweet Sassy Diva's Blog, we are celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness.  I wanted to make a fun window card with my Gypsy.  As a mom of all boys, I have a very limited supply of pink paper...thank goodness I have a Cricut Imagine!!

I found this paper pattern on Nursery Tails.  It reminds me of boobies!!!  That is what we are celebrating here ~ healthy boobies!!!  We are running, racing, praying, sharing and pledging money all for boobies!  Now where was I??  Oh yes, paper.  I used this paper for my card base.

I used two frames from Gypsy Wandering sized at 4 inches each.  I hid the inside cut on one of the frames with Hide Contour.

I used the bra from Forever Young.  I hid the panties as I just wanted the bra.  I sized the bra to 3 inches.  I put one bottom layer of the bra on the same mat as the card base and hid all of the inside cuts.  I centered the bra in the oval window and welded the three pieces all together to create my card base.

Here it is all cut out of my boobie paper!

On a separate Gypsy layer, I put the two layers of the bra.

I cut out the pieces in pink and white cardstock.

I added some sparkle (stickles) and a flower.  Every girl needs a little bling!

I am mainly a scrapbooker, so I don't have many stamps.  I did find one that would work with my card on PinkByDesign Just My Ticket that said Hope.

It is my hope that we find a cure for breast cancer very soon.  It is also my hope that every person (men get breast cancer too) who has breast cancer or who will get breast cancer will kick it's butt!!!

Master Crafter Challenge ~ Help me decide which one to enter!!

I was lucky enough to receive a box from Sarah Hamer (pinkbydesign) for this challenge!!

Inside the box was:

- Scissor Mouse sponsored by Westcott
-DCWV Rockstar mat stack sponsored by DCWV Deals
-Cotton Bag Sponsored by State line Bag Co.
-1/2 sheet of Rhinestones sponsored by Queen & Co.
-Sentiment stamp sponsored by Pink by Design
- 2 Assorted Buttons

Incorporate as much from the box as possible– realizing that one thing is a tool, and may not be used as part of the project, but used to make the project.  You may use other things from your stash to make your project. Think outside of the box, and have fun!

Me here again.....I made two projects and tried very hard (for me) to think outside the box.  I am a scrapbooker mainly and really wanted to NOT make a layout!  I believe I can only enter one of my projects and I need help deciding!!!

Project #1 is a pizza box and four cards.  I cut apart the cloth bag and punched out a couple of flowers and a hexagon.  I used the scissor mouse to curve-cut my papers (by the way LOVED the scissor mouse way more than I thought I would).  I used the stamp on a tag, cloth bag piece and a card.  I inked the tie from the bag and used it as a flower stem and a tie on the tag.  Two buttons were used on cards.  I used some bling on one card and also the center of my flower on the box.  I used the paper stack for all of my paper except the Kraft cards stock.

As a scrapbooker, this project was a little outside my own box.  It was very fun to make even with the limited supplies.  I did not like that the four cards were all different (outside my box) but I do love the colors of the papers!

Project #2 is a mini album.   I cut the cloth bag into strips and stamped it to look like ribbon.  I used it with other ribbon and the string from the cloth bag on the rings.  My biggest button was purple, so I covered it with some paper and glued it to the cover of my album.  I used bling on the cover.

I used part of a star as a page in the book.  I used Rock Princess to make cuts for the cover and inside of the album.  I love making mini albums but rarely fill them with pictures.  I will give this one to my niece and she can put the photos in.

Here is where you come in.  I really want to win one of the prizes so I need you to help me enter the project that is the most ORIGINAL and uses all of the supplies (both did that one) and I can't decide!!!!

Please leave me a comment letting me know which project you like best #1 or #2.  THANKS!!!

Baseball is Life LO

I created this monochromatic layout for a challenge a while back (before I broke my wrist).  We were to use 90% of the color of choice and no more than 10% complementary colors.  I picked blue as baseball layouts are easy for me :)

I used Versimark ink and Got Game stamps from Pink by Design to create a subtle background on my blue cardstock.  I cut a circle out of PLS paper (Papillion LaVista South is Tyler's High School) and tucked it behind the baseball paper photo mat.  I tied a knot out of leather cording.

I added TEAM and VARSITY from Varsity Letter to two of the photos.  I added Baseball is life from Baseball as my title.  In my house (especially this time of year) Baseball really is life.  We are getting ready to go to the State Tournament in Kearney, NE.

Tyler catches and has played a little bit at 2nd Base and pitcher.  This summer has been a great season for our boys!!!  I really don't want it to end.....

Werner Park Layout

Tyler's High School Varsity team got the opportunity to play at Werner Park twice this spring.  Werner Park is the home of the Omaha Storm Chasers (formerly the Omaha Royals) and moved to this awesome stadium just minutes from our house.  The Royals used to play at Rosenblatt (the home of the College World Series) until a new stadium was built in downtown Omaha.

As a Junior, we did not expect Tyler to play at all.  He is a catcher and spent most of the game in the bull pen which is behind Center field.  Coach summoned him from the bull pen in the last inning.  He had to run from center field to the dugout in between plays, put on his batting gloves and helmet and go to the on-deck circle.

I don't know who was more nervous....me or him!!!

He got a base hit!!!  We lost the game but he got a base hit!!!!

This week at Frosted Designs, our challenge is to use Stamps in our project.  Since I mainly scrapbook, I wanted to use stamps in my layout.  I used stamps from our sponsor this week Pink by Design.

I wanted to create my title to mimic the logo on the ticket.

I welded two arrows together from Art Philosophy.

WERNER is created from Varsity Letter.  I unlinked the chain and stretched taller the outer letters.

Park is the shadow feature of Base Camp.  I wasn't sure if I wanted blue or green letters, so I cut both.

My first attempt at cutting demonstrates my frustration with the Gypsy updates.  My double arrow looks like a deformed cloud!!

I copied and pasted the arrow to another layer on my Gypsy and re-cut.  This time it worked!  I will keep this trick in mind when I have other welded images....

I used my favorite trick for lining up my letters perfectly.  I used the negative piece as a template.

I used the blue letters because they are blue on the ticket.

I used Pink by Design Got Game stamps to stamp "Batter Up!" on my photo.

I used Stazon Opaque ink, but was disappointed in the ink.  I had to re-ink it and stamp a scrap paper several times to get it to look this good.

I used Pink by Design journaling stamps to create a round journal box.

I stamped on creme colored cardstock and used a 1 7/8" punch to create my circle.

I wrote out my journaling before I added it to the layout.

Eat, Sleep, Play comes from Got Game also.  It is a single stamp.  I used Post-it-Notes to mask out the areas I did not want the stamps.  I inked the edges of the banner with Vintage Ink.  I glued down some twine and pop-dotted the banner flags on top.

Here is my ticket.  I added some twine and a baseball brad.

I added some twine to the side of the journal tag and some inking to the edges.

Here is the layout all put together.  I love the paper and did not want to cover it up!

Join us this week with a project using stamps at Frosted Designs and you could win an awesome prize from Pink by Design!!

Arbor Day Blog Hop

I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.
...Alfred Joyce Kilmar

In the News: Arbor Day celebrated in Clarksville, 'Tree City USA' as quoted in their local paper
"I have a saying that trees are one of our utilities, and the reason I say that is because they help clean the air, they help control rainwater runoff, they convert carbon dioxide into oxygen," he said. "What we really have when we have a line of trees around the city is a utility that provides good things for the population without having any cost associated with it."

Today, we are celebrating the wonderment of trees and we welcome you in our celebration. If you are just visiting me, I would love for you to have a good "roots" with our hop and start at the beginning of our seedling which is HERE. If you have arrived from Tiffany then don't "bark" up the wrong tree as you are standing in our midst!

I did not have any photos that would work with a "tree" theme right, so I created a card instead.  This apple tree with a swing is my very favorite tree!  This image alone is the reason I purchased Just Because Cards!
I opened up a 12x12 mat in my Gypsy and put all of the tree layers on the mat sized to 6.44 inches (which will fit a card base that is 6.44 inches).  I put the card base on my mat and sized it to 5.5 inches.  I wanted my card to be horizontal (not vertical) and I wanted my tree a little bigger than was suggested by the cricut cartridge.

This is one of the features I really like about my Gypsy ~ I can see my project and how the pieces will go together BEFORE I cut them out!!

I put down my scraps.  I tape everything because my mats just don't stick like they used to.  I also have an E2 and the mats go in at an angle and they bend more than when I use my E or Imagine.  I really get crazy when my paper slips...

Here are all of my pieces cut out.

I layer the tree pieces together and put a little twine on my swing.  I used Denim twine from The Twinery.  I took some striped paper from my scraps and used it as the background of my card.

I tied some red crinkle ribbon around my card mat to showcase the red in the apples.  I stamped "Thinking of You" from Pink By Design as my sentiment on the front of the card.  I left the inside blank.

Thank you for visiting us today as we celebrate the lovlieness of our trees. Your next stop along our trail is ANITA. Thank you for counting our rings and not stumping along the way!
