Welcome Garden Flag

Hello and Happy June!!! Lori here from ScrappinMyStressAway!!

I am so excited to be able to have a booth this Saturday in a local Artist in the Garden Show!  As a baseball mom, I don't have a lot of free time on a Saturday - but this weekend is not a tournament weekend for us and we have an evening game!

I recently started playing with burlap and my heat press and made a couple of garden flags.  This flag was designed for my neighbor.

I use my Silhouette Cameo, heat transfer vinyl and a heat press to make these.

Here are a couple more:

Thank you Sheila for letting me share my projects today on your blog!!!

For my local peeps - hope to see you Saturday!!

Pick A Seat Not A Side

I covered an old 24 x 24 ceiling tile with burlap.  I created this file on my Silhouette Cameo after seeing one on Pinterest.  I used fonts and the heart swirl from my computer.

I cut the file out in vinyl and used it as a stencil on the burlap.  I used black acrylic paint and a foam brush.  I can add a wedding date below the hearts if desired.

This is a fun wedding sign that I added to my friend Robin's store!

Welcome Banner

Today I am featured at The Buckle Boutique BLOG!!!

I made a vertical burlap banner that was supposed to be displayed at CHA in The Buckle Boutique booth.  Unfortunately, I mailed it to the hotel and they returned it to me.  So I will have to display it at my house!

I love burlap with a bit of bling and this was a perfect time to use both together!!
I cut burlap squares 4 x 4 1/4".  I measured the letters to fit the squares and designed them on my Silhouette program.  I cut them out in vinyl to use as stencils.

I painted the letters with black acrylic paint and peeled off the vinyl when it was dry.
Next I inked the burlap with some vintage photo ink.
I cut strips of Rhinestone Self-Adhesive Sticker Sheets (found HERE) for the edges of the banner squares.
I cut a diamond for the "o" to look like a wedding ring.  The Buckle Boutique also sells wedding trims, buckles and slides so I wanted to embrace that!  I trimmed the sticker sheet to resemble a diamond!
I used Beacon's 527 Adhesive to glue cardstock to the back of the banner squares as well as glue the ribbon to the back of the banner squares to hold the banner together.

Here is a close up of the ring!
I left the bottom of the ribbon a little long and it can be trimmed if needed.

I have made a lot of banners, but this is my first vertical banner!

Friends!

Happy 2015!!!

I am excited to be featured at She's A Sassy Lady today!

One of my resolutions this year is to spend/invest more time with my friends!  I get caught up in my job and being mom.  Many of you know I am a daycare provider 50 hours a week.  I love it most of the time and my biggest bonuses are kisses, smiles and hugs!!

I am also a uniform washing, carpool driving, gatorate fetching and loudly cheering baseball mom,  I am involved with Tanner's school parties and field trips and play dates.

All of this leaves me partially fulfilled and totally exhausted!!

It is easy to say no thanks when friends call.  It is easy to veg on the couch with a good book.  I am going to start saying yes more often.  I am going to line up a babysitter or evening with Mimi and Papa when Mike's work takes him out of town.

I am not a big wine drinker, but I do enjoy pedicures, shopping, lunch and movies with friends!

I made my sign by selecting this image from the Silhouette store.  I filled in the color and sent it to my printer.  I printed on laminated burlap and trimmed it to fit an 8x8 tin.  The tin is from Michaels in the dollar bins.

I inked the edges of the burlap and glued it to the tin.  I have a tutorial for a similar project HERE.

This is a small sign to remind me of a big resolution!!!  I hope you have a wonderful 2015!!!

Today I am showcasing some teacher gifts that I made.  Some of these gifts were made for my friend's to give their kid's teachers.
The first gift is an 8x8 tile with vinyl on it.
I made these books for my friend's twins.  She provided me the photos and I used school themed papers.  I adhered the papers to chipboard and used my Bind-it-All to bind the books.   HERE is a tutorial about making mini books with the Bind-it-All.
I had the twins write their names for me and I put the photo on my Silhouette program and traced it.  I cut it out in vinyl and added it to the inside cover. HERE is a how I got the name in vinyl.
I printed this saying on laminated burlap and framed it.  You can find a tutorial HERE
My son's teacher is a runner.  I got her a very nice water bottle from Under Armour.  I put a K on one side....
and Runalicious on the other.  Red is her favorite color!
For the Husker fan, I decorated a wine glass and a water bottle.

Which gift do you like best?

My project for today is:
I made a burlap banner.
I purchased these laminated burlap sheets at Wal-Mart.  I traced banner flags on the sheets and cut them out by hand.
I cut out some vinyl stencils to fit my banners.  I make 3 at a time, two large banners and one small banner.  I use acrylic paint and pounce it on with a dry brush.  Once the paint is dry, I peel the stencil off.

I use my Crop- A-Dile to punch the holes and string the banner flags with twine.
I use vintage photo ink to ink the banner flags to age them a bit.

The banner looks great on a fireplace, door or wall.

Here is a noel banner I made the same way.  I used the lower case letters, smaller flags and black paint.

If you missed day 1 - you can go HERE!

Fun with Burlap - Home Decor

Hello!!  Today I am excited to be featured at She's A Sassy Lady today.  I am a clearance shopper - how about you?  I found some wood signs on clearance for a dollar each at Hobby Lobby.  I used Goo Gone to remove the decorative paper that was glued on the wood.  I spray painted the wood black and then printed some fun sayings from Silhouette onto laminated canvas sheets.

I found the images on Pinterest and traced them on my Silhouette Studio Designer Edition.  I filled in the words and shapes with black or red and printed them out.
I inked the edges with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo ink and a sponge triangle.
I glued tiny rhinestones to the little stars on the burlap.
These look great in my family room, but will also make great gifts!

Here is a TUTORIAL to print burlap laminated sheets in your printer.

Thanks for having me on your blog today Sheila!!

Burlap Baby Keepsake

Hello - Today I am sharing my project with my good friend Sheila from She's A Sassy Lady.  I have a big favor to ask of you - will you please click the link to her blog and tell her Congrats for being Cancer Free 1 Year this month!!!  She battled breast cancer and is finally back to crafting and creating - I was so happy to share her news!!!!!

I made a gift for a special new baby!  Owen will join my home daycare in December.  He is the fourth child in the family and I am so excited to have this family for several more years - they are so good to me!!!

I got the design idea from Pinterest.  I have made several of these keepsakes out of vinyl, but this is my first burlap one and I really love it for boys!!
I started with this burlap product found at Wal-Mart.  It is laminated on the back side and sized to 8 1/2 x 11.
I used my Silhouette Cameo to design and color in my words and hearts.  You can see my design process here - different fonts and phrases.  I had two different models, but liked this one the best.

I moved the image over to the top left side of my mat, making sure the overall design was within 8 x 10 inches so it would fit in my frame.
Instead of sending the image to my Cameo to cut, I sent it to my printer.
I went into my printer settings and changed the paper to "Other Specialiy Paper".  I loaded my burlap into my printer laminated side up (my printer pulls in the paper and flips it over - you may need to check your printer).
I trimmed off the edges so it fit in the frame.
Ready to put in the gift bag - I just love making personalized gifts!!!
Isn't he just precious?!!

I just love printing on burlap right now!!  I purchased the 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of laminated burlap from Wal-Mart.  It comes in a 3- pack for just under $3.00.  I colored in the words of this design from the Silhouette store and printed it out on my computer.  I trimmed the burlap down to fit the 8 x 8 piece of wood that I painted black.
I inked the edges of the burlap with Walnut Stain ink.  I used the sponge to ink the outer edge with Vintage Photo.  I used my ATG gun to adhere the burlap to the wood.
I tied some light brown DMC floss through my brown buttons and glue-dotted them to the four corners.
I have a wonderful fall piece for my entryway table.  I just love fall and fall colors!!

This month we have a wonderful Sponsor, Lucy Kelleher with Close To My Heart, and she has a fantastic giveaway to share with you today. Lucy is giving away a $10 Gift Certificate to her store.
