2013 in Review

Happy New Year's Eve!!!

We are almost done with 2013.  I have updated my goals for 2014 on my blog header.  I have selected my word for 2014 ~ balance.  I want to find balance between work and play, craft time and family time, and most importantly being happy with what I have and living in the moment.  I am an introverted person and prefer to stay in my craft room all day or evening.  I need to maximize my craft time and get out there into the big world more!!!

When I think of balance, my first thought is:

This would be so cool to be able to do!!!

More realistic for me is:

I would be the cat on the right :)

Today I write my favorite annual post - my best posts of the year!!  Sit back, grab a cup of coffee (or Diet Dr. Pepper) and enjoy my highlight reel!!  I had to limit myself to no more than projects 3 per month!!

January

Countdown to Disney at this point we had 9 month to wait!!

Elephant Gift Bag - isn't this a sweet gift bag?!?  This was put in my friend's store and sold almost right away!

Thank You Cards for the firefighters

In June, Kramer moved out into an apartment....26 days later his apartment building burned down.  He was very lucky as he was at work when the fire started and his lower level unit had mostly water damage.  He recovered 95% of his things.

It was very surreal watching the firefighters work.  I have a much greater respect for those men and women!!

The lower unit on the right was his apartment.

The fire started on the second level balcony and spread to the roof.  The roof caved in which let the smoke and flames out.  Only two pets died in this fire, many were rescued the next day.  One resident was treated for smoke inhalation after beating on everyone's doors to wake people up and get them out.

Baseball Layout Tanner played his first season of select baseball.

August

Tyler's Senior Season.  This was my first layout for Let's Scrap as a new Design Team Member!

My first ever Split Letter!

My very favorite Christmas Decoration this year is my Sled.

I hope you enjoyed my tour of 2013!!  I love reviewing the year and seeing how my crafting changes.

I have stepped down from three of my 6 Design Team commitments.  I am currently designing for Frosted Designs, Let's Scrap and The Buckle Boutique.  I also guest post once a month at She's A Sassy Lady.  I am selling some of my paper crafts in my friend Robin's store (Robin's Nest).  I recently was asked to sell my decorated wine glasses in a new Paint and sip wine store called Twisted Vine that opens in February.

I am very blessed and will work on finding my balance!!!

Blingy Headband

I have a girl in my daycare who wears headbands.  One day, Mallory handed me her headband when she was done with it.  Well, Miss Lori encourages all of her kids to take care of their own stuff, so I assumed she handed her headband for me to wear (not put in her cubbie).  I put it on and excitedly showed everyone that it was my turn with Mallory's headband!!!  Mallory laughed and chased me!  It has been a joke between us ever since :)

I cut a strip from a piece of Clear Rhinestone Resin Sticker Sheet and adhered it to a headband.   I gave this to Mallory along with some other goodies inside her felted tote bag for Christmas.

Note the Resin Rhinestone "M" on the front!!

Look at that sparkle!!!  Mallory loved her new headband!!

Blinged out Letter

If you are looking for Robin's Birthday Blog Hop, please go HERE.

I purchased this "L" from Michaels a while ago.  It is a leather-like cover on a 3D letter.  The black complimented my scraproom well, but it was a little boring.  I was inspired by a neighbor's front door decor - It was a "N" that was red on one side and black on the other with a strip of white in the middle (think Nebraska Cornhusker football) and I thought the white was gems.  Close up, it was just white, but I may sneak it off her door and put some of these rhinestones in it!!!

I used some cuts from a  Rhinestone Resin Self Adhesive Sticker Sheet.  You can find them HERE.

Theses sheets can be cut in a Cricut, Cameo or even plain old scissors - like I did for this project!!!  I just measured and cut and stuck them down!!!

These sheets are amazing!!!!

Thank you for stopping by today!!!

Birthday Girl Glittered Wine Glass

Happy Birthday Robin!

Today we are celebrating Robin's birthday with a Blog Hop!  If you found me first, you will want to stop at Robin's BLOG so you don't miss anything (she is offering Blog Candy)!

I am assuming Robin's birthday got overlooked a lot - or her gifts were Chrsitmas/Birthday combo gifts most of her life.  I created a fun grown-up birthday gift for her to celebrate her birthday!

I bought some glitter and Martha Stewart's Multi-Surface Durable Gloss Finish and glittered some wine glass stems.  As you can tell by the picture - I have crafter's ADD and create several projects at the same time!!

Before I work with wine glasses, I take a paper towel with rubbing alcohol on it to clean the glass and stem.

I glittered this stem pink.  I put painter's tape on the bottom of the glass.  I used the Durable Gloss Finish as glue to put 2 coats of glitter on the stem letting each coat dry completely.  I put two coats of Finish on top of the glitter.  In 28 days this will be dishwasher safe.

I used an image from the Silhouette Store and cut it out in pink vinyl.

This was messy and time consuming but I think with a little practice I will get better at it!!!  I really like the finished look!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!!  Your next stop in the hop is the Lovely Lissa Marie!
