Baby Gift (Vinyl)

A friend of mine just had a baby girl.  She is one of my daycare moms and I am so excited to have a girl coming!!!  We are boy heavy over here!  I have been wanting to make one of these Baby Subway Art Frames for a while now.

I found this float frame at Michaels on sale.  I removed the pictures and used goo gone to get rid of the sticky residue from the tape that held the pictures on the glass as well as the price tag.  I never understood why they put sticky labels on glass!!!

The dimension of this frame is 6" x 12", but the inner glass measures 5.5" x 11.5".

I put a rectangle on my mat sized to 5.5" x 11.5".

I opened a new Layer (while leaving the rectangle visible) and started putting some words and numbers on my mat.  I typically try out a couple of different fonts before I find what I want.

I ended up using Nursery Rhyme for: Mackenzie, Marie, and It's a Girl.

I used Plantin' Schoolbook for:  7pounds 9 oz and 21.5 inches.

I used Martha Stewart Elegant Cake Art for:  October 9, 2013.

I used the settings 3-3-3 for a kiss cut for my vinyl (Speed 3, Pressure 3 and Blade Depth 3).

Here are my tips for creating you own Subway Art:

Play with several types and sizes of fonts
Look at Pinterest for different ideas
If you need a comma or period, sometimes you need to use the semi colan and hide the piece you don't need
If you don't have a float frame, hot glue the glass to the back of the frame
Cut with paper first - especially if you only have one piece of vinyl to work with!

I used Cricut Transfer Tape to transfer the vinyl onto the glass then assembled the frame.

I sometimes use clear contact paper from the dollar store instead of transfer tape as it is not as sticky as the regular contact paper.  If I used regular contact paper, I "dirty" it up first by sticking it on my jeans so it is not super sticky.

Bunny Love LO (Cricut DIVA)

I have some Bunny Love to share with you today!!!

This is my beautiful niece and her bunny on Easter this year.  I have all boys so I don't get to create a girly layout very often, but I make sure to go girly for Easter each year!!

I am excited to share my layout at Cricut DIVA today too!!

I started out putting two 4x6 rectangles on my gypsy (to represent my photos) overlapping them the way I planned to do on the page.

I opened another Layer and grabbed this scallop shape from Artiste.  I sized it to 11.07 inches.

I wanted a border punch look but honestly don't have the patience for the actual punches!!!  Luckily, MS Elegant Cake Art cartridge has several borders that are just like her punches.

I welded three of these together sized to 1.10 inches.

You will notice on my layout that the cuts inside the scallops did not cut out.  I was having trouble with this paper as the back side has a glittery flower pattern on it.  The paper kept slipping, so I just hid the inner cuts after ruining two cuts!!

I added this doily on another layer.  This is also from Elegant Cake Art and is sized to 7.82 inches.

I opened up another Layer and positioned my title where I thought it would go.  The font is Elegant Cake Art and the letters are sized to .77 inches.

I used the negative piece of paper as a template and adhered the letters down on my page.

I ended up moving my title to the top because I wanted ribbon to go right where I put the title!!  No problem, just used my cricut spatula to carefully peel the letters up!!

I inked the white photo mats, scallop background piece and doily with hot pink ink.

I needed some flowers!!  I used Mother's Day Bouquet for my flower shape.

I cut the flower out five different sizes ranging from 1.18 - 2 inches.

I used two shades of pink cardstock, as well as the paper I used for the scallop and the border.

I inked the edges with the same hot pink ink I used for the background pieces.  I used my stylus to curl up the petals.  I adhered the layers together with glue dots and put a clear gem in the center.

I put in three butterflies.  These were used with Square 1 Masterpiece adhesive back fabric and you can see how I made them HERE.

Here is my title at the top and a butterfly in the corner of the photo.

Beautiful layout of a beautiful girl!!!

Pinterest Inspired Blog Hop - Framed Banner

Welcome to the Pinterest inspired Blog Hop!!

If you are looking for my Things With Wings Frosted Designs project, please go HERE.

You should have arrive from LISSA.  If you found me first, please go to the BEGINNING so you don't miss any projects!!

Pinterest is all the rage for inspiration - I love being able to save my ideas for later.  I can even share them on my phone when I am away from my computer!  Today we were challenged to create any project that inspired us from Pinterest.

I pinned this project about a year ago - I just loved it!!!

I am making mine as a gift, so I did not include photos (but totally would if I were keeping it) and I changed the colors.

I purchased a picture at a thrift shop (yes - I was poppin' tags) and discarded the print and glass as the print was stuck to the glass.  Originally I wanted to use the print for a different project.

I painted the frame white and then sanded some of the paint off for a shabby chic look.

Then, I grabbed my gypsy and got to work:

I used these pennants from Pretty Pennants.  The triangle banner flags are sized to 3.5 inches.  The rectangle banner flags are sized to 3.15 inches.

I cut these out on a piece of 2-sided K and Company paper.

The butterflies are from Martha Stewart Elegant Cake Art and are my very favorite cricut butterfly!!  I sized them at 1 inch and 1.47 inches.

The flowers are from Mother's Day Bouquet and are sized to 1.24 and 1.35 inches.

Live, Laugh, Love is from Home Accent and sized to 1.78.  These words come as a set, so the actual words are under an inch each.

I used purple and pink cardstock to cut out the pieces.

I used a Martha Stewart butterfly punch for the small butterflies.

I added pearls, gems and paper flowers from Michaels (Recollections) to add to the flags.  The mini clothes pins are also from Michaels in the wedding aisle.  They are glittered.

I wanted something different for the top of the frame, so I grabbed my gypsy once again...

These rolled 3D flowers are from CTMH Artiste and I sized them to 5 inches.

I used my tweezers to roll them up and liquid glue to adhere them.  I put three of them on the top of the frame, and the fourth on a banner flag.

I layered a green flower under each flower.

Here is a close up of the sanding.

Here is my Pinterest inspired project - hope you like it!!

Thank you for stopping by!!!  Your next stop is JESSIE.

Cell Phone Decor

Hello!!  Happy June!!  Happy Summer!!  Time for new clothes and new cell phone designs!!

Today is my day over at Sheila's blog She's A Sassy Lady and I wanted to share this fun project with her followers too!!

I made this cell phone vinyl design for a friend of mine.  Kylie is one of my helpers in my daycare and her boyfriend of 2 years is currently deployed.  She saw a similar cell phone monogram design on Pinterest and asked me if I thought I could make one for her and Andrew - Challenge accepted!!!

I have a file saved in my Gypsy that is the exact size of my Samsung LG phone.  Kylie has the same phone so I just opened my file and got designing!

I have a rectangle that I sized to 2.5 w x 4.5 h.  I unlocked the chain and used Real Size to get this configuration.

I opened another layer and left the eye open on the first so I could see it though the mat.

I used the font from Martha Stewart Elegant Cake Art.  I made the & 1.42 inches and the A and K each .70 inches.  I came to these measurements by welding first and then sizing the design to fit the space.

I cut the monogram out in purple vinyl.

I set my cricut to speed 3, pressure 3 and blade depth 3 and cut.

So pretty!!!

Speaking of pretty....here is Kylie and Andrew!!

I am also linking this up at Sarah Hamer Designs Link Up Party!!

Happy Place Layout

This week at Frosted Designs, our challenge is "Happiness Is....." and I have to admit this stumped me!!  I finally settled with my original idea of a layout of our recent trip to Mexico to celebrate 20 years of marriage.

Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of things to be happy about, but I feel like I am in a bit of a creative rut!
I made this coordinating page because I HAVE to scrap in 2 page sets!!!

My inspiration for the first page came from a layout on Pinterest:
Instead of stitching, I layered my Creative Memories paper on top of a brown piece of cardstock.   Instead of strips of paper or washi tape, I used some flourishes to mimic the design on the paper.  I added a second photo and cut out my letters with my cricut.

I used Lovely Floral for "Happy" and sized the letters to 1.27 inches.  The "{}" are also from Lovely Floral sized to 2.41 inches.  I hid the inside cuts.  I cut them out of mossy green cardstock.

I used Martha Stewart Elegant Cake Art for "place" and sized the letters to .76 inches.  I cut them out of dark brown cardstock.

The flourishes came from Picturesque and Home Accents.

I cut apart the swirls to create a background behind the photos.

It is hard to see my journaling in this photo - I used a brown marker to match the paper.

I pop-dotted the photos on my layout.

Every time I look at the photo of the beach I sigh and just want to go back!!!

For the second page, I started out with a new Layer in my Gypsy.
I put some bamboo trees on my Gypsy mat from Life is a Beach and sized them to 4.06, 5.00 and 5.47 inches.  I cut them out in a dark mossy green cardstock.

I inked the bamboo, letters and flourishes with Vintage Paper and a Fantastyx before I removed them from my cricut mat.
We had a blast snorkeling at Xel-Ha.  This is a salt water river that feeds into the ocean.  We got to snorkel, cliff dive, zip line and swim.  It was a fun day trip!

Our trip was amazing!!!  I hope I don't have to wait another 20 years to go back!!

Lake Fun (Sweet Sassy Diva)

If you are looking for Keira's Double Digit Birthday Hop, please go HERE.

This week at Sweet Sassy Diva's Blog our theme is Vacation Anyone?  I took these pictures at my brother's cabin in May.  The kids were fishing and riding in the paddle boat and having a great time!!

I started out with my Gypsy:

I saw a layout on Pinterest that had some paper waves and wanted to make some.  I found this border from Martha Stewart Elegant Cake Art and sized it to 4.8w x 1.58h and welded two together.  I hid the inside cuts with Hide Contour.

I cut out LAKE FUN from Martha Stewart Birthday Cake Art sized to .88 inches.

I cut out three waves and trimmed 1/4" off of one and 1/2" of a second wave in order to stack them.

I used this bright paper from Quick Quotes to layer my photos with!

I inked the waves with Opaque ink.

Next, I added some fish and fishing poles from the accessories on Everyday Paper Dolls.  I sized the fish to 2.41 inches and 2.18 inches.  I sized the fishing poles to 2.06 inches.

I added the sun and chair from Life is a Beach.  The sun is sized to 1.82 inches.  I copied another sun and hid all of the cuts except for the circle pieces to create a circle layer.  The chair is sized to 1.82.

I cut out the pieces from my cardstock scrap stash.

I inked the fish with a little pink and put them in between the waves.  I tied a knot in orange and blue twine and tucked it behind the waves.

I added the title on the water and put the chair in the corner.  The fishing pole is just above the fish.  I adhered one to the layout and pop-dotted the second one on top.

I changed the background paper to something more subdued and added a touch of orange twine.

I hope you enjoyed my layout from our mini vacation.  We usually all go to the Ozarks together every August, but this year (after 13 years) we are not able to all go.  It makes me a little sad, but I look forward to future family vacations!!!

Thanks Bobbi Jo for having me over today!!!
