I used my cameo to cut the red vinyl.  I welded two different fonts to create Cheers and naughty.

The gold L is Self Adhesive Resin Rhinestone Sticker Sheet from The Buckle Boutique.  You can find them HERE.  I cut this material on my cricut and adhered it to my wine glasses.

Cutting on the cricut is not hard but you need to remember a few tips:

You need the deep cut blade and housing set to 5.  A sharp blade works best.
A sticky mat is a must (re-stick if necessary).  I usually tape the edges, but if your letter has a lot of details you want it to stick down pretty good!!
Place the sticker sheet bling side down on your mat (don't forget to reverse your image).
Cut - I only cut once.
Gently pop out your cut.

I use rubbing alcohol to clean the glass surface.  Once the glass is dry, you can adhere the vinyl or rhinestone sticker!

Thank you for stopping by!!!

And now onto my first project:
I purchased a round glass ornament at Michaels and filled it with sand and sea shells that I brought home from our vacation to Mexico.

I saw this idea on Pinterest and I originally was thinking about hanging a tag from the top of the ornament and writing Mexico 2012.  Well, this ornament sat "naked" for a whole year before I decided it would look better with vinyl on the front!!
I grabbed my gypsy and searched through my fonts using www.mycutsearch.com.

I used the shadow feature of the font Jasmine and sized the letters and numbers to .88 inches.

I cut Mexico 2012 in yellow vinyl and applied them to the front of the ornament.

Bright colors remind me of Mexico, so I chose yellow and orange!

I added a bright orange ribbon to the top and it is ready to hang on the tree!!  This is a great way to remember a special vacation.

Thanks for stopping by - I hope to see you again these next 11 days!

Give Thanks Wine Glass (Harvesting Memories Blog Hop)

Welcome to the Harvesting Memories Blog Hop!!  Today we are celebrating fall and when I think of fall, I think of family.  We have three birthdays in November in my family - my husband was actually born ON Thanksgiving!!

You should have arrived from Deb's BLOG.  If you found me first, please go to the BEGINNING so you don't miss anything!!!

I have been having too much fun with vinyl lately, and I am making a ton of decorated wine glasses for Christmas gifts this year.  I decided to make one for Thanksgiving.  I don't care for wine - at least I didn't until I tried Moscato!!!  I am thankful that someone created a sweet wine :)

I cleaned my wine glass with rubbing alcohol.  I found this design in the Silhouette Online Store and sized it to fit my glass front.  Since wine glasses come in different sizes, it is best to get out your trusty dusty ruler and measure so you don't waste your vinyl!

It is hard to see in this photo, but I used dark brown vinyl (not black).  I use the Vinyl setting which cuts just the vinyl, not the paper backing.  I peel away (weed) the extra pieces.  I use clear contact paper from Dollar Tree as transfer tape.

I tied a bow on the stem.

I recommend hand washing after use.

A few helpful hints about vinyl, I keep one blade for vinyl only and the other for cardstock.  This keeps the vinyl blade sharp longer.  If you have a cricut machine, the best setting for vinyl is 3-3-3, blade depth - 3, speed - 3, and pressure - 3.

Use a dental tool or sharp poker to peel away (weed) the extra pieces.

Burnish the clear contact paper on the weeded image.  You can use a scraper (looks like the Pampered Chef Scraper) or a credit card or even a popsicle stick.

Burnish the image on your surface.

Take your time with curved edges!

What are you giving thanks for this year?

Your next stop in the hop is the Dazzling Daphne!

Hiking Layout (Frosted Designs)

I have a fun layout today with Tanner on a hike.  Our challenge at Frosted Designs is to pick at least one item from this list and include it in your project:
tags
paper layering**
washi tape
flags/banners
patchwork
circles
stitching
stars
flowers
buttons
arrows**

Frosted Designs

I did something I am sooo not good at - mixing more than 2 patterned papers on one project!!!  I used paper from Studio Calico That A Way.  I made sure the arrows on the paper were pointed in the direction Tanner was walking@@

I used Studio Calico stickers for the title and the embellie - Not All Who Wander Are Lost.

I pointed to the state of Iowa as we were visiting Tyler at college in Iowa.  We were there to watch a double header.  During the game that Tyler did not play much, Tanner and I walked up the steps to the top of the cliff.  Tyler goes to Briar Cliff and yes the college is up on a cliff!  Tanner found some great walking sticks and gave them a workout!

As you are posting your projects in the next two weeks, double check the items in this challenge - you only need to include one!!  Link up at Frosted Designs for a chance to win a prize from Heartfelt Creations!!

Blog Hop Winner

On October 7th, I was in the Frosted Designs Blog Hop.  You can see the post HERE if you missed it.

I failed to remember to draw a winner for my Blog Candy!  One of my faithful followers messaged me and asked about it.  I remembered the day after the hop, but wanted to give it a another day or two for additional commenters.  Well, then I completely forgot until this morning when I read my message.  I apologize!!!

I used Random Number Generator and the winner is #13 Carmen M. who said:
What a fun sign... Might have to lift this one :) thanks for the inspiration.

Carmen - I just need your address so I can send you some goodies!!!  You can email it to me at lori.apgar @ gmail.com!! (without the spaces)

Thanks so much!  This is the month of expressing thanks and I have to say I am overwhelmed with the number of followers I have as well as 139,836 page views!!  When I started my blog I just wanted a place to keep my tutorials for my scrapbook students.  I never imagined that I would have met so many amazing people (most of you I have never seen in person) and would have grown so much as a blogger and crafter!!!  Thank you all!!

Christmas Tag with Bling

This is our second annual Tag Swap!  Together with designers from She's A Sassy Lady and The Bug Bytes, we create tags and swap with each other.  The idea was to have lots of pretty tags to use for the holidays, but these tags are WAY too pretty to use!!!

The requirements are simple, 6 1/4 x 3 1/8 is the minimum size and you need to make 16 of the same tags.  The hard part is deciding which tag to make!!!

I found this tag from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More and sized it to 6.25 inches for my base tag.  I used Hide Contour to hide the holes at the top of the tag.  I cut these out of light blue cardstock.

For the tag layer, I used the same tag sized to 5.66 inches.  I cut these out of Carta Bella paper Merry and Bright.

The ornament ball was found on Christmas Cheer and I sized it to 3.82 inches.  I cut this tag out of pink glitter paper.

When cutting glitter paper, I put it glitter side down on my mat.  I clean my mat with dish soap, water and a scraper to get the glitter off (well, most of it anyway).

I used clear Rhinestone Resin Self Adhesive Sticker Sheets from The Buckle Boutique.  I just love these!!  You can cut them with a cricut machine, sizzix, or even scissors as I did here!

You can find them HERE.

My tag is also featured today at The Buckle Boutique Blog!!

Here are the rest of the tags I received in the swap:

Aren't they gorgeous?!?
