Virtual Blog Hop - What Am I Working On!

I received an e-mail from an extremely inspiration-ally talented designer and a Design Team Member Michelle Odriscoll, She asked me to participate in her blog hop last week! My first thought was: sounds fun. I have less going on in the summer so I get to craft more. So, here I am honored to accept that invitation. Especially, after reading more about the details and seeing how this blog hop is different from the usual blog hops. This virtual blog hop gives me the chance to show progression of my creativity and write a bit so you can get to know more behind the pages you see me create. Here are the questions I got to write about:

1. What am I working on now?
I have just finished three big orders: 50 wine glasses with vinyl on them for a 50th High School Reunion, a banner, some gift bags and food labels for a wedding and rehearsal dinner, and a banner for a baby shower. I also create at least 4 scrapbook pages a month for my Design Team posts.

How does my work differ from others?
I use my Silhouette Cameo for most of my projects and recently started adding some Mixed Media products.  Mixed Media makes my paper crafting look unique or one-of-a-kind!

Why do I create what I do?
I started my blog when I was teaching scrapbooking and Cricut classes.  I had so many questions about how I created projects so I started writing blog posts with step-by-step instructions included.  That was 3 1/2 years ago.  I not longer teach, but with DT work and blog hops, my goal is to post at least 3 times a week.  This way I finish the projects that I start!!  I am on three Design Teams:  Frosted Designs, The Buckle Boutique and Let's Scrap.  I also Guest Design on my good friend Sheila's BLOG the first Monday each month.

How does my creative process work?
I have a hard time pulling something out of the air.  I can look at a picture of a project or sample and tweak it to fit my needs.  I love Pinterest and scrapbook sketches. For my layouts, I start with the photos and figure out what story I want to tell - then I add pictures, a title and embellishments.

My dad passed away 7 years ago this coming July.  I am the only girl and was his favorite!!!  I miss him dearly especially his wisdom and sense of humor.  Here is my layout from 2007:

  My project today was made for my husband who is an amazing father to our three boys!  Here is a picture of him and tanner (the little blonde in the red shirt in the picture above too) after we won a baseball tournament 2 weeks ago:

I found this pin on Pinterest and really liked it.  I found a font on my computer that I liked (pharmacy) and got my Cameo fired up!! 

This is what I designed.  I did not have a float frame, so I used an 8x8 Canvas.  I sized my design to fit within 8x8 and cut it out in orange vinyl.  Orange is Mike's favorite color.  He is a kidney cancer survivor and orange is the ribbon color for kidney cancer.

He also loves bright blue, so I painted the edges of the canvas bright blue.

I already gave Mike his other Father's Day gift - he asked for a FitBit bracelet to track his fitness level.  Ever since his kidney surgery last July, he has dropped 30 pounds, eats better and works out as often as his busy schedule allows.  We are hoping to have many more Father's Day celebrations with him!

The Buckle Boutique Lips

I am so excited to be featured at The Buckle Boutique today!!!

I decorated a compact today with some blingy lips!!

I cut out a set of red rhinestone sticker sheet lips from Don Juan on my cricut machine.  I hid the inner cuts as they were pretty detailed and I wasn't sure how well it would cut.

I cut my rhinestone sticker sheets blingy side down and I use packing tape to keep the sticker sheet in place.  I use my Deep Cut Blade set to 6, my speed at 3 and my pressure at 3.

Once I cut the lips out, I took my coated cutter bee scissors and cut the lips apart and trimmed out a curve on each lip. 

Now when I grab my compact - I see some luscious lips blinging at me!!

Disney Pixar Blog Hop

My friend is taking her children to Disneyland in a couple of   weeks.  She needed some autograph books for the kids.  

I created these 5x7 books using chipboard for the cover and    back, cardstock and my Zutter Bind-It-All.  I covered the chipboard with paper and cut the Mickey  and  Minnie out using my Cameo.  I used a font on my computer to create the Prince Thomas and Princess Caroline. 



I put the year on the inside as I made it too big for the cover.

I filled the album with white cardstock.  Typically, I decorate   the pages on the inside with the characters,  but in Disneyland the characters don't have a set autograph spot so it is hard to  predict who you will see. 



 I put a little Mickey on the back.

For my next project, I decorated a visor:





I cut this Mickey head out of a red resin rhinestone sticker sheet from The Buckle Boutique.  I used my cricut and the Disney Font cartridge.


I cut the sticker sheet rhinestone side down on the mat (and I tape clear packing tape all around the edges).  I use the Deep Cut Blade set to 6 and Multi Cut set to 2.  I slow down the speed to Medium, but sometimes the Gypsy has a mind of her own concerning the speed!!

We are planning a trip to WDW in November with the entire family - I am so excited!!!  I can't wait to ride the new 7 Dwarfs Mine Ride!!  




One of my favorite character memories is when my oldest was 9 or 10 and not really into the characters but his younger brother was.  While waiting for Tyler to get his book signed, Kramer was standing with his arms crossed tapping his toe.  Cruella De Ville came up and started harassing him asking him if he was "too cool" to see the characters - it was so funny!!!

Hello and Happy Saturday!!  I know that time is very limited for everyone - especially scrapbookers!!!  Today I want to share a time saving tip with you.  

Creating with a Scrapbook Kit has save me tons of time.  I was not a kit subscriber until a few months ago.  I figured I have 3,000 pieces of paper at home - why do I need a kit??  Well, I never had the right shade of blue (or any other color) to match my photo or my pretty new flowers.  Buying a kit takes all the guess work out of matching colors and themes for us!!

I recently attended a wedding of a good friend of mine.  I wanted soft colors with a pop of color added.  The perfect kit to use was Simply Sweet from Frosted Designs:

I started with this beautiful paper:

I took the stencil Live, Love, Laugh and used molding paste with it.  Once dry, I spritzed some Dylusions Bubblegum Pink ink spray (from a previous Frosted Designs kit) on it. 

I also spritzed a tag and flower - both from the kit. 

I tucked the doily sticker behind my photo. 

I journaled on this tag and pop-dotted it over the photo.

I used the word "together" as my title.  My friend Renee and I went to the wedding together.  We have both been through thick and thin with our friend Karyn and wanted to support her together!!

The idea for this layout came very quickly.  Waiting for the paste and ink to dry was the longest part!!!

Easter Layout

Happy Wednesday!!!  Today begins a new Challenge at Let's Scrap!  The sketch is:

I had a little trouble with the angles - my photos are pretty busy so I decided to only turn two photos at an angle instead of 4.

Easter is the one layout I can use flowers and pastel colors and I used this yummy paper from a paper pad at Michaels. 

If you know me at all, you know how much I emphasize handwriting on your layouts!!!  This tag was part of the paper pad and was perfect for my journaling!!  I layered a piece of orange paper below it and tucked a flower on the side.  The flowers came from my scrapbook kit at Frosted Designs - love these kits!!!

I used this tag for my title - which I purchased in the Silhouette online store.  I also triple matted the photos in white, orange and pink.  Tanner was the only boy in the egg hunt (and yes he has his bag on his head)!!  We had to wait for my cousin to arrive before we could hunt candy - all of the chocolate melted!!

We had a wonderful Easter at my brother's house in the country.  I hope you did too!!

Father's Day Beer Mugs (Sassy)

Hello - Today I am the Guest Designer at my friend Sheila's BLOG!!  Today I have a fun Father's Day project.  I wanted to make something fun for the dad's and Papa's in my daycare this year.  I recently decorated some beer mugs for the men in a wedding party and a friend wanted a similar one for her dad.

I turned on my Cameo and dug out my vinyl and made several different ones to choose from! 

This one is the most requested!! 

I love the white letters on the black ties!! 

The moustache theme is still going strong! 

Putting vinyl on glasses is a little tricky due to the curve of the glass, but a little patience and practice go a long way!!!
