Family Digi Layouts(Bug Bytes)

Hi ~ Lori here from ScrappinMyStressAway  with some digi layouts to share at the BugBytes today.

Many of you know that I broke my right wrist recently.  Yes I am right handed!!

One good thing that came of my broken wrist is I sat around a lot for the first week being waited on by my wonderful husband and sons!!

I also spent a ton of time on my laptop.  I took this time to play around with a digi software program I have had for a while.  I know Pam is an awesome digi gal and I was a bit nervous to post these beginning projects here, but Pam has always been super supportive and helpful and I know she won't laugh at my left-handed beginning work!!!

The first layout (above) is a simple layout.  I added the photo, 2 brads and the love charm.
Here is my lovely cast!!!
This layout was more challenging.  I started out with the blue polkadot paper and added the scallop (with a shadow) and then my two photos (with white borders and shadows).

I added my title and journal (Tanner & Sabryna blowing bubbles after our annual egg hunt).
Tanner is my youngest son and Sabryna is my youngest niece.  They are 6 weeks apart and I love taking photos of them together!

I added the flowers and put brads in the centers.

I added the ribbon, but did not realize that the ribbon was not 12" long.  I went back to try to lengthen it and got an error message that meant the print quality would be compromised.

Soooo....

I went back to my photo file and cropped it!!

If you are wondering what software I used and are curious to try it out:

Use my code:STMMMS39803 to save $10 off the software, and save $10 in their digital store.  They also have several free items and specials every month!  You can go to their website and look around for free  if you want :)

Thanks Pam for having me over today!!

Watermelon Mini Card

Welcome to My Cricut Craft Room's Picnic Blog Hop!!!  We have a variety of Picnic inspired projects for you!

If you found me first, please go to the BEGINNING so you don't miss anything.  Below is a complete list of blogs in the hop!

When I think of a picnic,  I think of juicy slices of watermelon ~ yummy!!

I wanted to make a window card with a juicy slice, so I started with my Gypsy.

On the "card" function key in the Going Places cartridge, I found this square frame card.  I sized it to 3 inches tall.

I found this watermelon from Doodlecharms.  This watermelon fit the inside cutout area better than the other watermelons I found.  I sized the shadow of it to 1.92 and welded it inside the frame.

I added the watermelon layers to my mat, all sized to 1.92.

I used cardstock from my scrap file to cut out my pieces.

When I cut out the red layer I realized there were no seed cut outs.  I re-cut the red layer and trimmed off the rind.

In order to use patterned paper on the front of my card, I copied the card on my mat and positioned it off the mat.  This allowed me to cut just a little more than the front of the card.  I trimmed the extra off and adhered it to the front.

I inked the green layer with green ink.

I adhered the layers on the card.

I put glossy accents on the seeds and tied twine around the left side.

What is your favorite picnic food??

Thanks so much for stopping by!!  Your next stop is the Awesome APRIL!

One of a Kind

This week, our challenge at Frosted Designs is to sew or stitch on your project.  With a broken right wrist, I knew I would not be able to actually sew, so I went digi!!

I created this layout left handed!!

I had the layout printed out and then enhanced it with buttons, letter stickers and metal embellies:

I used My Memories Suite.  If you want to try them out, use my code for $10 off and a $10 coupon for additional papers and/or embellishments.  My code is:   STMMMS39803

Pirate Girl Shape Card

This week at She's A Sassy Lady, Sheila has challenged us to make a shape card by welding two shapes together.

My friend Mariana needed a pirate card for a little girl who is turning 2.  I thought this would be a fun card to make into a shape card!!

I sized all the pieces from Paper Doll Dress Up to 4 inches.  I copied, flipped and welded two shadow people to create my card.

I used Hide Contour to hide the eyes, nose and mouth on the body.

I used this Peachy Keen stamp for her face.  I liked that she is winking here as I wanted to patch one eye AARG!!

Here are the pieces all put together.  I used stickles for the patch, nail polish, shoe buckle and hair.

I put a gem flower in her hair and ring on her finger ~ isn't she stinkin' cute?!?

Here is a side view.

My card would not be complete without a Sassy envelope.  If you want to see Sheila's video on how to make any sized envelope, go HERE!

Be sure to check out Sheila's post and Gypsy Made Simple video HERE and you too can link up your project!!

Class Picnic (LO)

Hi ~ Lori here from ScrappinMyStressAway!!

I am excited to be here at She's A Sassy Lady with a 2 page layout I created BEFORE I broke my right wrist.

Tanner's Kindergarten class picnic was held at our neighborhood park the last Thursday of the school year.  Tanner played soccer, football and baseball with his friends.  I wanted to capture this special day for him.

Of course, I started with my Gypsy:
I found the soccer players from Sports Mania and sized them to 2.08 inches.

I found the grass from A Child's Year and sized them to 2.85 inches.  I ended up cutting two sets.

I grabbed the sign from Street Sign and sized it (and the layers) to 3.16 inches.

I used letters also from Street Sign to spell out PARK sized to 1 inch.

I found the swingset and slide from Pop-Up Neighborhood sized to 1.77 inches.

I used the font from Nate's ABC's sized at 1.56 inches.

I opened up another layer and grouped the green cuts all together.

I opened another layer in order to group the rest of the cuts by color.  I cut everything out of cardstock.

I pop-dotted the grass cuts over the photos and park sign.

I used my Cricut Imagine and the Hopscotch cartridge to print the cloud paper.  I printed one 12x12 sheet and cut it in half - one for each page.

I crinkled up some creme colored cardstock and inked it to look like sand.  I put the swingset and slide in the sand.

I did not use the shadow layer for the title because I cut the wrong shade of blue.  I liked it better without a shadow, so I left it.
I journaled on a cloud.
I have been trying to use more than one patterned papers in my layouts - I am still not comfortable with this!!!  I used a string of green twine to separate the sky from the polka dotted grass.

Thanks so much Sheila for having me over today!!!

Here is a complete list of blogs:

Let’s get started with the ideas:

I found my inspiration on Pinterest:

Here is a link to Brittany's blog post.

I started with my Gypsy.

I took this tie from Simply Charmed and sized it to 2.13 width x 6.00 height.

I unlocked the chain between the words Width and Height on my basic menu.  It is yellow when locked and white when unlocked.

In order to get two of each tie plus the top half at an angle, I arranged the ties two sets on each side.

Here are the ties cut out.

The second set I did with double sided paper.

I rearranged the ties on my mat and cut out this blue patterned paper....

and this green paper.

I opened another layer and used letters from Birthday Bash at 1.35 inches to put on the ties.

For the card, I used #1 dad sized to .88 inches.  You can see how I determined the size to fit the tie on my mat.

So my grand plan was to create a shadow for the letters.  Somehow I did not use the shadow feature, so I skipped the layer!!

This is what the tie looks like with the top at a 40% angle.

I also cut a shadow tie shape.  There is no shadow feature on Simply Charmed, so I had to create my own.  I sized the tie to 2.51 width x 6.59 height and cut them out of brown cardstock.

It is not exact but I was very happy with it!

Next I copied two ties onto a new layer.  I flipped one and welded it to the top of the second one.

Hint:  I flipped and welded BEFORE I rotated them.  The ends of the tie hung off the mat, but it was much easier to line up and weld properly!!

I cut out the tie card in the same brown cardstock as the shadow layer.

I scored and folded the card and adhered the tie on top.  I inked the ties with Vintage Photo ink.

I pop-dotted the letters on each tie and used twine to string the pieces together.

I had a lot of fun creating this banner and card!
