Circle Album {BugBytes Designer}

Today I am the Guest Designer at TheBugBytes and I am going to show you how I made this circle album for my Mother-in-Law for Mother's Day.  I hope all of you Mothers out there had a wonderful day yesterday ~ I sure did!!  I saw a circle album during the Disney Pixar Blog Hop #2 last week HERE at Tami's Craft Connection, but she did not show instructions.  So, I decided to create my own.

My first attempt was to use 5.5inch circles, but they were way too small once I folded them.  I made 4 circles at 11.50w x 11.07h out of blue paper  I made 5 circles at 11.0w x 10.59h out of coordinating paper.  I used a paper pad since I did not have 5 matching papers at home.  I used Plantin Schoolbook, but any circle will do.

Then I folded the circles in half, then in quarters (half again).

I used the bone folder from my score board to score the folds.

Here are my four blue circle pages all folded together.

Then I folded four of the patterned papers the same way and glued them to the inside of the blue circles.  This way when you fold the blue circle up, you see blue on the outside, not the patterned paper.

Then I used my ATG gun to glue the pages together into a book.

Here is the cover of the book.  Before I covered it with paper....

I glued a ribbon to the cover.  In hindsight, I should have glued the ribbon a little higher up the spine.

Here is the book covered.

Each page of the book folds out.

Now, I need to decorate the pages and cover!

I designed several things on my Gypsy, but ended up using only a couple.  My Mother-in-Law is very practical so flowery pretty things weren't necessary for her.  I opted for small banners from Straight From the Nest cut at 4.00w x 1.76h.  I cut out I heart U and the flower from Plantin Schoolbook to put on the flags.

I used this title from Mother's Day 2010 cut at 4.04w x 3.82h.  The flower is from Plantin Schoolbook at4.15w x 6.36h.

I inked the edges with Vintage Photo from Tim Holtz.

Here are Tanner's pages.

Here are Tyler's pages.

Here are Kramer's pages.

And here is the last page with the three of them all together.

I cut my photo down the center so the page would fold back together.

Here is a top view of the album.

Another top view with a paged opened up.

I love trying out new things!   I am glad I found this project to tackle!!

Thanks, Pam, for hosting me on your blog!  You are a constant source of inspiration to so many of us!!

Birthday Cards

First of all, Happy Mother's Day to all of the mothers out there!!  We have three birthdays in our family close to Mother's Day, my brother (he turns 40 this year), my sister-in-law and me.  I was motivated by Sheila's card challenge at ShesASassyLady Gypsy Made Simple challenge yesterday to create these two cards.

I used Mickey Font for both cards.  I took he shadow of 40 and hid the inside cuts on the numbers.  I kerned and welded the two numbers together, then copied and pasted and flipped a second set of numbers.  I welded the two sets of 40 together to create the card and cut it out in black.  I cut out a regular set of numbers and cut them out in a gray and white paper with a circular pattern.

I folded the card in half.  I used black paper that was white on the back so I could write on the inside of the card.  I added some black stickle dots on the numbers after I assembled the card.

For my SIL Wind, I made a "W" card.  Windy is not a fussy, girly girl so I stuck with a pretty paper and blue card.  I added a sheer ribbon instead of a little flower as it suits her better.

Here is the card on my Gypsy.

And here is the card pieces cut out.  I folded the card in half.  I tied the ribbon to the "W" before I glued it to the card.

I inked the paper with black ink and added the stickle dots.

Here is the card for Windy.

Frosted Designs Crop Challenge ~ Hidden Journaling

Welcome to the Frosted Designs online Crop!!  We have tons of challenges and games throughtout the weekend and hope you join us when you can!!

My Challenge is HIDDEN JOURNALING and it is from 7:00pm-8:00pm today, Saturday May 7th.

My challenge is "hidden journaling" and in my layout I have hidden a tag behind a photo.

I started with a basic sketch and some photos of my oldest and youngest boys during baseball camp in Arizona for my middle boy.  They had lots of down time and had to keep busy during the camp.

I found the title, arrow and subtitles from Graphically Speaking and sized them on my Gypsy and cut them out.

I put adhesive on three of the four sides of my photo mat in order to make a pocket for my journaling tag.

I added some hemp cord and buttons.

You can slide out the tag to read the journaling.

Your Challenge is to create a layout with HIDDEN JOURNALING.  You need to post your completed layout at Frosted Designs.  It can be a tag or cardstock or whatever you come up with, as long as it is hidden.  The prize for this challenge is:

Good Luck and Happy Crafting!

Finally I get to do a girly layout!!!  I just love Easter layouts!!  I was inspired by Frosted Designs Sketch Along Tuesday challenge yesterday.

Here is the sketch.  I cut a scalloped circle from Easter 2010 at 8" and looped ribbon through the cut outs.

I added some flowers, butterfly, buttons, pearls and pink tulle.

I made a tulle flower with a button center.
Yes, my son is the only one not dressed up!!!   My nieces and cousin's daughter look soooo pretty!!

We all had a good time.

Thanks for sharing and for the chance to win some awesome blog cady.

Sassy Graduation Cards

I am a Guest Designer today for Sassy's Blog.  Since May brings graduations, I thought this would be a good time to make some cards for the high school seniors in my life.

I started out creating a background out of 2011(Doodletype 0.73h) and a graduation cap (Locker Talk 0.73h). I rotated the numbers and cap 90 degrees. I did this because I purposely wanted to stack the layers like bricks and ran the rest of the line off the page. That would have been harder to do (for me anyway) without rotating it.

Once I had one 4x6 area completed, I grouped it and copied it three times. This way I can make four cards at once. I also kept one set in a separate layer just in case I need one or two more cards. With a high schooler, you never know!!

Here is the Amy Chomas pen holder that I won in the First Disney Pixar Blog Hop. I took out my blade housing and replaced it with the pen holder and a black gel pen.

Instead of cutting, the cricut will draw your images.
I trimmed them down to fit on my card front. I did use card blanks from Michaels for my cards and envelopes because I had them already.

I cut coordinating high school colors and glued them to the face of the card.

I went back to my Gypsy and found some banners (Mother's Day 2010 sized at 1.35w x 1.47h) and used the same 2001(0.73h).

I loaded up my papers and cut out the images.

At the last minute, I copied and pasted 2011 two more times for the blue and orange cards.
I left the banner pieces on the mat and glued on the numbers.
I used some thin beading twine to string the banner flags together and pop-dotted them to the paper I made. I mounted this paper onto color coordinated papers.
I tied blue ribbon between the flags, but it was missing something.....
I glued the blue paper to the orange card, but it was still missing something...
I grabbed a pack of Jolee's graduation caps and diplomas with gems in it and got a little blingy!
Here are the three finished color combinations. This will be easy to save and change up a little bit for next year too!

Thank you for stopping by!!
