Scrappin' My Stress Away

I purchased this glass block at Michaels about a month ago and I have had a total block (no pun intended) on what Halloween image to put on it. Finally, I was looking through my gypsy for something else and came across this image on Holiday Cakes.

I put the layers of the haunted house on my mat sized at 7 inches. I put the witch (sized at 1 inch) and the bat (sized at .65 inch) from Happy Hauntings on my mat. I put the bat and witch on the same half of the mat as the black layer of the house.

I put black and yellow vinyl on my mat. I set my cricut at 3-3-3, Pressure 3, Speed 3 and Blade Depth 3. This gives a nice kiss cut. It will cut through the vinyl only, not the paper backing.

I take my dental tool and pull (weed) away the extra pieces. It is helpful to roll up the extra vinyl as you peel it off so it doesn't stick to your project pieces.

Then you weed out the inner cuts (door, windows, etc.). I take clear contact paper cut to size and de-stick it a bit by sticking it on my pants. Then I smooth it over my image. I want to stick my black vinyl on top of the yellow layer first.

I use my scraper tool to burnish the vinyl on my contact paper.

I start at one corner and peel it up. Then I place it over the yellow piece.

Here are the two layers on the glass.

I added ribbon around the edge of the block.

I put the bat and witch on the block. I put white tulle and a set of 35 white lights (found at Hobby Lobby) inside the block.

Here is my block all lit up. The stand also came from Hobby Lobby.

To make my project today, I started with an orange charger plate:

A charger plate is a plastic plate that you can put under your everyday plates to dress them up. If you are craft-minded, you might use a charger plate for a blank canvas. I bought my plate at Michaels for $1.99.

I started with this witch from Wrap It Up sized at 7 inches. I measured the center of the plate (where it is flat) and it is 8 inches in diameter. I cut the witch out in black vinyl. When cutting vinyl, I set my cricut to 3-3-3. Speed, Pressure and Blade depth all at 3 will "kiss cut" the vinyl (won't cut through the paper backing).

I take my dental tool and pull away (or weed) the extra vinyl. It is helpful to roll it up as you pull it off so it doesn't stick to your project pieces.

I trimmed a piece of clear contact paper to fit my image. I dirtied it up by sticking it to my jeans to de-stick it a bit before smoothing it on top of my witch. I burnished the witch onto my clear contact paper with my scraper tool.

I started at the top corner and pulled the vinyl off the backing paper.

I placed the witch in the center of my plate and burnished it. Again, I started at a top corner and peeled off the clear contact paper. Vinyl is very forgiving and if it is not staying on your plate, smooth the contact paper back down and burnish some more.

Here is the witch on the plate.

I used Blackletter for the font to spell out Happy Halloween in all caps at 1.75 inches.

I repeated the process to cut the vinyl on my cricut.

I cut individual pieces of clear contact paper for each letter.

I used small pieces of post-it-notes to space out my letters.

I peeled the letters off and stuck them to the plate one at a time.

Here is "Happy" all lined up.

I spaced out Halloween next.

Here is my plate all ready to go. You can purchase an inexpensive easel to display your plate. I am thinking of what to make for a Christmas plate next!!

Fall Decor Blog Hop (Frosted Design Fancy Trim) 10-14

Welcome to the Fall Home Decor Blog Hop!! This is also my project for this week at Frosted Designs Fancy Trim Challenge. You should have arrived from NANCY. If you found me first, please go to the BEGINNING so you don't miss anything!

I started with an 8x10 canvas and some fall scrapbook paper. I adhered the paper to my canvas then painted the edges with brown acrylic paint.

I inked the edges of the paper with the brown paint as well.

I found this border strip from Elegant Edges cut it out at .88 inches.

I cut it out in orange cardstock.

I cut out this "So Grateful" from Calligraphy Collection last fall and ended up not using it. I did not save the file, but I believe it was cut at 3 inches. I cut it out in a brown shimmer cardstock.

I folded the brown ribbon and used glue dots to hold it in place.

I tied knots in my gold sheer ribbon to add some texture.

I added some gems to the bottom of the canvas.

The sunflower adds the perfect touch to my fall wall decor! I have this hanging in my entryway.

Peace, Love & Cure Card

Today I am the Guest Designer at The Bug Bytes and I made this card for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I am also entering this in the Link up for Pink which you can see HERE! I was afraid I missed the deadline but it is October 14th!!

I used the peace symbol and the font from Feeling Groovy, the heart from George and the bra from Forever Young. The peace symbol is sized to 1.36w x 1.31h. The heart is 1.48w x 1.16h. The bra and panties are sized to 3.25w x 1.31h. I hid the panties with Hide Contour. The letters are sized to .84inches.

I cut out the images in hot pink cardstock. This cardstock had a little texture to it, so I used Multicut to cut it twice. I kept the negative piece to use as a template.

I ran the cuts through my Xyron and adhered them to my pink shimmer cardstock perfectly.

Here is my top layer.

I added pink stickles to the shapes. I mounted the pink shimmer paper to a piece of pink floral paper from K&Co. I tied some pink tulle around the bottom and adhered a pink paper flower to the knot. This little pink flower reminded me of the pink flowers on training bras!
