Garden of the Senses Layout

Today begins a brand new challenge at Let's Scrap Sketches.

I looked back on my blog posts over the past year (check back tomorrow to see my highlights) and I realized that I completed more scrapbook pages than I thought thanks to Let's Scrap!!  If one of your goals for 2015 is to get caught up on scrapbooking, consider following our weekly sketch challenges as well as our LOAD (layout a day) Challenge in January HERE.
Here is today's sketch.  I used the left side of the sketch.
We have an amazing zoo in Omaha, Nebraska.  One of the lesser known features is the Garden of the Senses.  There is a huge sun dial, water features, a butterfly garden and so much more.  Tanner loves this "gong" and has to bang it!  it is a hollow metal pipe but it sounds like a gong.

I printed off a quote from the Silhouette store and used my circle punch to punch it out.  I thought it was perfect as many people walk right by this on their way to other attractions.  Tanner and my niece Jenna spent a lot of time here that day.
I found this background at the Silhouette store and cut it in blue to match Tanner's clothes.  I cut the title and music notes from my cameo too.

Thanks for stopping by - I hope you have a Happy New Year!!

Today's blog candy is the Project Life Theme Kit, Celebrate.

Now, are you ready to see some amazing projects...
So, sit back, grab yourself a latte, and hop along with us as we celebrate my birthday.
Happy Birthday Robin!!!  I love this age!!!  This is a wine glass that many of my friends would enjoy!

I designed this using two fonts from my computer and my Silhouette Cameo.  I also made small circles to cut polka dots.  The stemless wine glass is becoming more popular - maybe because it is harder to break!!!

Thank you for stopping by and visiting with us today and helping me to celebrate my birthday.
Your next stop will be with...

EVA

And don't forget to leave everyone some love on their blogs for your chance to win the Project Life Celebrate Theme Kit.

Time Spent with Family Layout

Today begins a new challenge at Frosted Designs.  The Challenge is All In the Family.  So today's challenge is titled "All In The Family." Your project (layout, card, art journal page, mixed media piece, etc) must focus on family and include a quote about family somewhere on it.

I used a photo from our recent trip to Disney World because it has our entire family in it plus my husbands parents.  Mike is an only child and my parents have passed away, so my boys are very close to their Mimi and Papa.  The 7 of us have not been on a vacation all together in 3 years.  Even though our older boys are a little old for Disney (their words not mine) I feel this vacation was worth every second!!!
I found this quote at the Silhouette online store and printed it out on cream colored cardstock.  I trimmed it and inked it with Tim Holtz Walnut Stain ink and matted it with dark brown cardstock.
I layered papers from Frosted Designs Rustic Beauty Kit.  The flowers are from the kit as well.

I really love the floral papers layered with the brown cardstock!  I hope you join us at the Frosted Designs BLOG for this wonderful challenge!!

Be sure to spend time with your family over the next few weeks as it is worth every second!!!  Happy Holidays!!

Merry Everything & Happy Always LO

Today begins a new sketch challenge at Let's Scrap!  When I first saw the sketch (below) I was going to make a card.  I don't make cards very often though and I am pretty practical - so I thought about combining my family Christmas card in a layout!!

We went to Disney World in November and had several pictures taken for our potential Christmas Card photo.  This one had everyones' eyes open and most of us are smiling.  Mike's parents are with us in the photo - so they are part of our card this year!  This photo was taken at Hollywood Studios and the iconic blue sorcerer hat is being removed in 2015 - so I insisted on having a photo in front of it!!
Here is the sketch.  If you check out the Let's Scrap BLOG, you will see different interpretations of this sketch.  This can easily be a card, a scrapbook page without a photo, or a scrapbook page with a photo.  You can also make a canvas or ATC card - the possibilities are endless!!!
I cut some leaves from my Silhouette and added stickles berries to frame my photo card.
I added another spray of leaves and berries on the bottom corner.  I adhered some ribbon and lace to the bottom of the page.
Merry Everything and Happy Always from our house to yours!!!

Today I am showcasing some teacher gifts that I made.  Some of these gifts were made for my friend's to give their kid's teachers.
The first gift is an 8x8 tile with vinyl on it.
I made these books for my friend's twins.  She provided me the photos and I used school themed papers.  I adhered the papers to chipboard and used my Bind-it-All to bind the books.   HERE is a tutorial about making mini books with the Bind-it-All.
I had the twins write their names for me and I put the photo on my Silhouette program and traced it.  I cut it out in vinyl and added it to the inside cover. HERE is a how I got the name in vinyl.
I printed this saying on laminated burlap and framed it.  You can find a tutorial HERE
My son's teacher is a runner.  I got her a very nice water bottle from Under Armour.  I put a K on one side....
and Runalicious on the other.  Red is her favorite color!
For the Husker fan, I decorated a wine glass and a water bottle.

Which gift do you like best?

Up next is JENNY

Tanner Layout (Let's Scrap)

Happy Wednesday!!  Today begins a new Sketch Challenge at Let's Scrap!  I took this photo of Tanner when we were taking homecoming pictures of big brother Tyler and his friends.  I love the trunk of this tree and took a nice picture of Tyler in front of it.  The next thing I know, Tanner is standing in the same spot saying cheese!!!  He was so cute!!!  This photo was taken in September of 2011.
Here is the sketch.  I have been waiting for the perfect sketch for this 5x7 photo and decided to use the left side of the sketch.  I used some Prima paper (Captured Drama) because the flowers matched Tanner's shirt so well.  The paper, pocket, flower and "dream Big" embellishment came from Frosted Designs.
I wrote my journaling on the tag.  I layered some papers from my stash behind the pocket.
I did not want to cover the flowers on the top corner, so I put my banner flags on the bottom!  I just love using sketches as a starting point and making them work for the photos and pretties I have!!

Consider joining us at Let's Scrap!!

Holiday Project without Red or Green Challenge

This week at Frosted Designs we have a new challenge.  Our challenge is Holiday Project without Red or Green Challenge.  I made an ornament using pieces from the Rustic Beauty Kit.

I adhered the flower die cut to a piece of transparency film that I cut to fit inside my ornament using my Silhouette Cameo.  I adhered ribbon around the top of the ornament holder and added a bow.

I added this cork charm with an angel flair.  This ornament was inspired by my mom who loved angels and butterflies.  She was not really a pink girl - her favorite color was blue.  I used pink because the ribbon I have looked nice with the angel.

You can join our challenge HERE.

12 Days of Christmas Blog Hop Day 12

Welcome to the 12 Days of Christmas Blog Hop Day 12.  Today is our final day!!!  This hop will take place  November 24th through December 5th and the new postings each day will be posted by 8am eastern standard time. This hop will be full of wonderful ideas and inspiration to get you well on your way  of creating all of those beautiful Christmas project. This is an awesome way to get a lot of your Christmas cards, and scrapbook layouts  finished, home decorations completed and maybe even be inspired to  create something using a new technique that you have never tried.  There will be a new project posted each and every day by all the wonderful  amazing ladies in this hop. Also each day we will have a guest designer  or two for you to visit.

This is one of my favorite bog hops to participate in every year as it motivates me to create for the holidays!!  The sponsors are on Lisa's BLOG - be sure to visit and comment every day and you just might get a prize!!!

My project for today is a very special ornament:

William is one of my daycare boys who went off to Kindergarten this fall.  He drew a picture of me and wrote his name.  I asked him and his twin sister to write their names for a special ornament I wanted to make for mom.  This ornament idea came later!!

I copied and traced his name and the picture of me using my Silhouette Cameo.  I put a circle on my mat to represent the ornament size I was using and sized the images to fit inside.

I cut everything out in white vinyl.
To make this sparkly ornament, you need a glass ball ornament (mine is a flat ball ornament), Polycrylic, glitter and a funnel.  Use the funnel to put the polycrylic into the ornament.  Slowly turn the ornament until all parts are covered (do not shake as it will cause bubbles).  Turn the ornament upside down and drain excess polycrylic into a disposable cup or egg carton.  This just takes a minute or two to drain.

Use the funnel and pour in extra fine glitter.  Slowly turn the ornament until all parts are covered.  Empty excess glitter back into the original glitter container.

I have really enjoyed this hop and I have been doing it for a few years!  I hope you were inspired and have a Very Crafty Christmas!!

Thanks for stopping by!!!  Your next stop is the Amazing ASHLEY!!
