The Buckle Boutique Lips

I am so excited to be featured at The Buckle Boutique today!!!

I decorated a compact today with some blingy lips!!
I cut out a set of red rhinestone sticker sheet lips from Don Juan on my cricut machine.  I hid the inner cuts as they were pretty detailed and I wasn't sure how well it would cut.

I cut my rhinestone sticker sheets blingy side down and I use packing tape to keep the sticker sheet in place.  I use my Deep Cut Blade set to 6, my speed at 3 and my pressure at 3.

Once I cut the lips out, I took my coated cutter bee scissors and cut the lips apart and trimmed out a curve on each lip.
Now when I grab my compact - I see some luscious lips blinging at me!!

But first, here's a little something from me about Jessica.....

I met Jessica on FaceBook in a blog hop group.  I love how she opens up her craftiness to others!!!  She and I also share a love of the color purple and Disney.  I decided to make my card in purple for her!

So, here is what I created for her:

I love making window card with my Gypsy.  I also love personalizing cards - so it just made sense to create a 34th birthday card for Jessica!!!  Hallmark doesn't make 34th Birthday cards - but I do!!!

I started with this card base from Don Juan and sized it to 4 inches.

The numbers are from Sweet Treats and are sized to 2.29 inches.  Once I got them sized, I copied and pasted another set onto my mat.

I grouped and welded the numbers inside the window opening.

I cut out the card base in white cardstock.

I moved the card to the left so the front half only was on the mat and used the chevron paper from Mambi Cards pack to cut out the front side of the card.

I cut out the numbers and the sentiment in purple cardstock.  I did not use the sentiment.

I adhered the patterned paper to the front of the card and then I adhered the numbers on the card.

I used orange and yellow stickles to create the flames on the candles.  I tied some purple twine on the left side of the card.

Window cards are fun to make and you can weld just about anything inside the window!!

What would you weld inside the window?

Now, its time to go on to Pam's Blog

Here is the lineup in case you get lost along the way!

Thank you all so much for hopping along with us!

Valentine Luscious Lip Scrub

Hello and Happy Valentine's Month!!!

I am excited to be featured at The Bug Bytes with a super fun Valentine gift idea!

I wanted to make something fun for my daycare moms and my son's teacher for Valentine's Day.  I found an awesome lip scrub recipe from my friend Sarah Hamer (link is below).  I found these round containers at the Dollar Store and got to work!!

I started with my Gypsy and a blank mat.

The lid to my containers measures 2 inches.  I opened Layer 2 in my gypsy and put a 2 inch circle on the mat.

I found these fun lips on the Don Juan cartridge and sized them to 1 inch.  I could see through the layer that the lips would fit on the lid.

I put the shadow lips on the top half of the mat, and the lips on the bottom half.
I cut out the lips in black and pink cardstock.

I adhered the lips together (no - it only works with paper he he).

I used my Martha Stewart glitter glue to trace the lip line.

I used my 1 7/8" punch for the background paper for my lips.  I will use up some of my pink and Valentine paper scraps.

***This part the children will help me with!!

I used my Tim Holtz red distressed marker to ink the edge of the circle.

I got the recipe for the lip scrub from my friend Sarah (Pink Cricut or Pink by Design) HERE.  When she posted the recipe I tried it right away and LOVED it!!

It is all natural and ok to lick :)

Here is my Luscious Lip Scrub gift!  I will let the children decorate the bag and gift tag.

I hope you and your lips have a wonderful Valentine's Day!!

Mardi Gras Banner (Frosted Designs Tutorial)

This week our Fabulous Friday challenge at Frosted Designs is to use brads in your project.  I have been making banners lately.....a lot of banners.  They are just so fun to display.  Mardi Gras is coming up so I thought that would be a great banner!

When I think of Mardi Gras, I think of jazz music, masks, hats and the colors purple, yellow and green.  I grabbed my Gypsy and got to work.

I started with these banner flags from Birthday Bash.  I sized them to 4 inches.  Birthday Bash is a great cartridge for banners, it has several different banner flag shapes.

I got the Jester's hat from Don Juan and sized it to 1.59 inches and Mardi Gras sized to 1.94 inches.  I got the filagre from Don Juan and sized it to 2.76 inches.

I wanted a multi-colored jester hat and filagre, so I cut them out in three colors (also one in black for the jester hat) and trimmed them apart.

I pieced them together and added some gold stickles.

In order to create a layer for the phrase Mardi Gras, I copied another on on my mat and used Hide Contour to hide the inside cuts.
I needed more, so I found the mask on Designer's Calendar and sized it to 3.12 inches.  I cut it out in purple and white, and trimmed the white mask for a layer.

I cut out the saxophone and trumpet from Quarter note and sized them to 3.12 inches and 1 inch.

My measurements seem odd if you just look at the measurements.  I start with the background piece (in this case the banner flag) and size the pieces to best fit the space.  If I intend on placing an image on an angle, I will rotate the image on my Gypsy screen before I size it.

I added some purple, green and gold stickles to my mask.
I needed a little something between the image and the banner flag, so I grabbed a diamond shape from George and sized it to 3.24 inches.  I cut them out in yellow.

I ended up using only 4 of the diamond shapes because the jester hat and filagre had too much yellow and blended in.

I poked the brads through the green ribbon to attach the banner flags.  I tied on some purple and green ribbons for added pizzaz.

And here is my completed banner.  I hope I inspired you to create a project with brads or eyelets and join our challenge!!

Note Pads for my Kids!

I made personalized note pads for my daycare kids and their siblings who are in school.  I personalized them by using several cricut cartridges and papers.  Ayla loves cats and her sister Abby loves dogs.
William and Eli love trucks and trains.
 McKenna and Elle love dance.
Luke and Tanner love baseball.
Mallory loves lady bugs and Sierra loves tie dye and soccer.
 Sterling and Alex love football.
Colton loves soccer and Jadon just started karate.  Jadon also loves orange!
Max loves golf and Stone loves to wrestle.
Here is a screen shot of some of the cuts and layers.

I welded the names (using Don Juan) to the Sports Mania images.

Here is a link to a tutorial on how to make these notepads with a Bind-It-All HERE.

In addition to the note pads, I also gave the kids some "grown up" pens to use in them.  My son has already filled up his note pad with drawings and words.  I need to get busy with some more!!!

Star Window Card

My friend nominated me for a makeover at our local mall, I made this star window card to give to Ulta and Coldwater Creek.  I modeled clothes from Coldwater Creek and the girls at Ulta made me beautiful!!

I found this card base in Don Juan and sized it to 7.92w x 5.00h.  I also found the star from Don Juan and sized it to 2.33w x 4.18h and welded it inside the cut out (window).  I copied it so I could  make two cards at once.

I cut out the card base in kraft brown cardstock.

I copied the star on Layer 2 and copied it 4 times.

I scored the card in half with my Martha Stewart Score Board.

I adhered the yellow star on the front of the card.
Here is the gal who did my makeup at Ulta!

Here is the gal making my hair big at Ulta!

Here is the after shot on stage at our mall during the Friday Night Concert break.  I am wearing the white sweater!  I was so nervous!!

Here is the finished card again.  I tied some twine on the front and stamped the star with "Thank You" from Joyslife.com's All Around Sentiments.

I am linking this up to Sheila's blog for her card challenge!!
