Layered Card (She's A Sassy Lady)

This week over at She's A Sassy Lady, Sheila has a Gypsy Made Simple project (with a video) and a challenge.  You can see her blog post and link up your project HERE.

I got my Gypsy girl and opened up Art Philosophy.  I found my card base and sized it to 5 inches.

My second layer is the same shape sized to 4.65 inches.

I copied the shape onto a new layer and sized it to 4.06 inches.

I grabbed these tags from Art Philosophy.  I hid the slit using Hide Contour.

I sized the two smaller tags to 0.62w x 1.65h.  I unlocked the chain between width and height and stretched the third tag to 0.62w x 2.62h.

I cut out the layers of this butterfly from Sentimentals sized to 1.59 inches.

I used this beautiful butterfly paper from Quick Quotes.

I stamped "flutter" on each card, but left the inside blank for now.  Here is where I have a fear of commitment when I am not making a card for a specific occasion....

I tied some sheer ribbon to the side.  I just love that butterfly inside!!!

I had so much fun making this Sheila!!  It has been a while since I had time to play!!

Valentine Door Hanger

This week at SweetSassyDiva's the theme is "Not a Card or Layout" so I decided to finish a project I started earlier.  I saw something similar several months back and created a file in my Gypsy right away (so I did not forget) and never even did a test cut!  I was thinking this would be cute for Valentine's Day.

I started with this box from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More and welded this layer of an ornament from Christmas.  The box is sized at 10.90w x 6.88h and the layer of an ornament is sized at 4.81w x 29.12h.

On a side note, the layer of the ornament can be used as a wine bottle tag!

I cut out my box in red card stock.

I scored and creased on the fold marks and used my ATG to adhere it together.

I found an image from my Holiday Vignettes program and printed it out on white cardstock.  I cut it out.

I had to guess at the size of the image and it turned out pretty well!

I wanted to put a doily behind the image, so I opened up Lacy Labels and found an oval shaped doily.  I rotated it 90 degrees and sized it to fit the front of the box (4.91w x 3.47h).

I grabbed the "XOXO" from Sentimentals and sized it to 2.74w x 1.12h.

I cut both out of cream colored card stock.

I inked them both with Antique Linen ink to age them.

I wrapped some wide brown ribbon around the middle of the box and adhered the doily to the box.  I pop-dotted the image to the doily.  Now I just have to wait for my Valentines to be delivered!!!

Today is also Fabulous Friday Challenge at Frosted Designs.  My post today is a Mardi Gras Banner.  Here is a sneak peek.  Come back Sunday for a full tutorial!!

Valentine's Day Layout

This layout was inspired by one I saw on Out On a Limb Scrapbooking.  They sell scrapbook kits.  I was looking for some ideas for my monthly crop at Michaels and followed one of her Valentine's Day ideas.  Note:  I have no intention of selling my pages as a kit or at all,  just wanted to give credit of the deisgn to the proper source!  This is not how I typically scrapbook, I start with the photos and paper and then go from there.

I used the LOVE from Love Struck 2010 cartridge.  I wanted to add some beads to the heart and a couple of bigger hearts as well.

These photos below show how I made the beaded hearts:
I started with paper hearts, beads and Glossy Accents.
I outlined the hearts with Glossy Accents.
I filled in the heart with the beads.

Next, I covered the beads with Glossy Accents.

Here is what they look like wet.  These particular beaded hearts were used for a different project.  I also used red seed beads for my Valentine's Day layout.

I cut a variety of hearts out using George and different pink, red and white papers.

The little envelope came from Sentimentals.  I sized it to 7.92w x 2.93h on my Gyspy.  I used a heart to seal it!

I added a few heart shaped buttons and some ribbon.  I used baker's twine tied in a knot for the buttons.
And here is the final layout once again.  This is a pretty layout....with all boys I am not sure where I will find photos to add to it lol!!

A Gypsy Box

Many of you know I have been a little lost without my Gypsy girl!  She went to the "spa" for a facelift.  There was a mixup and she got on the wrong flight home (switching places with a look-alike) and I am still all alone here.  Well, kind of...

My friend and student loaned me her Gypsy.  She does not have very many carts and has a couple that I don't have.  I am grateful for the chance to play, but I seriously lost my mojo.  It took a little nudge from my good friend Sassy to get creating again!  She is having a box challenge on her blog ~ go check it out!

I decided to make a box with the carts that Crysta has on her G.  I used Gypsy Font and Sentimentals to create this box.

I had some trouble with my welds.  I originally wanted to create my own scallops on the box lid, but after welding one piece at a time (per Mya Magoo's recomendations) I got almost done and the preview showed all grey lines.  This means that nothing was going to cut!!  I started over and scrapped the scallops!

I went to test cut the box, and one of the sides was not welded.  I re-welded it and then accidentally un-grouped the boxes and had to start all over welding ~ UNTIL I remembered to just close the file, not save the changes, then re-open the file.

I wanted to quit about 10 times, but I am a little stubborn at times so I kept going!

I used my MS Score Board to score my box and lid.  I used double sided tape to adhere the box flaps.

This is not the paper I wanted to use, I ended up cutting the box 4 times before it was all welded properly.  My lid did not match the paper I ended up using, so I re-cut the lid in green.  I did not use the flower border for the flaps since the box was busy enough with the polka dots.  Good thing I am flexible!

I cut 5 flowers each one a little bigger than the first.  I inked the edges in red using my brand new Fantasticks (thanks MakeupGirl217).  I cut out 2 leaves and inked with the only green ink pads I had (wish I had a darker one) and this is how it turned out!!

It is not perfect (yet) but I am getting back on my horse ~ so to speak!!
