EEK Banner (Doily Challenge at Frosted Designs)

This week at Frosted Designs, our challenge is to use a doily in your project.  Halloween is my very favorite holiday so I chose to create my doily out of black paper and include it in my EEK banner!!

I used Happy Hauntings for this witch shoe and shoelace layer sized to 5 inches.

I used double sided K and Company Halloween paper.  I flipped two of the shoelace layers and one of the shoes to utilize both sides of the paper.

I used Birthday Bash for the banner flags and sized them to 7.24 inches.  I used K and Company Halloween paper (in purple) for the banner flags.

I used Creative Memories Reminisce Accents for the doilies and sized them to 3.82 inches.  I cut them out of black cardstock.

Here are my pieces all cut out.

I inked the boots with black ink and a blender pen.  I also inked the banner flags.

I cut out the word EEK from the font on Happy Hauntings at 2.88 inches.  I used lime green cardstock and covered the letters with lime green stickles.

I used twine to "tie" the boots.  I used sparkly lime green ribbon wrapped in white tulle to string the banner together.

Here is my EEK banner ready to hang up!

Thank you for stopping by!!

Cell Phone Cover Design Gypsy Style

This week at Frosted Designs, our challenge is "Cell Phone" which means either creating with the pictures from your cell phone, creating a layout about your cell phone or any other project involving your cell phone.

I finally got my new cell phone!!  I got the Samsung LG3.  I am having so much fun with it, but the white cover was a little boring.....

Don't you agree??  I spent a week trying to decide on a design.

I love butterflies and the color purple so I started with some purple vinyl and my Gypsy.

The butterflies come from Paper Lace 2.  I copied and welded the butterflies together around the monogram from Creative Memories Reminisce Accents.  I was inspired by some cell phone covers I saw on Pinterest.

In order to trim the edges of the butterflies, I added a rectangle the same size as my phone.  I did not group or weld the rectangle as I wanted the blade to cut through the design.

My test cut with purple cardstock showed me the size was good.

I loaded my mat with my purple vinyl.  I set my Expression to 3-3-3 (Depth, Speed and Pressure) for a kiss cut.

I weeded the extra cuts with my Cricut Dental Tool.

I used transfer tape to place the vinyl on my phone.  I burnish the vinyl with my scraper and carefully peel off the transfer tape.

Here is my finished design!  I love it and the best part is I can change the design without buying a new cover!!

Flourish Canvas (Frosted Designs)

This week the Fabulous Friday Challenge at Frosted Designs is to use flourishes.  I have 3 posts for Friday, so I am sneaking this one in on Thursday!!  I am not a girly girl and I have all boys so I was a little stumped at first, but I had a lot of fun with this one!!

I cut out this flourish from Creative Memories Reminisce Accents at 8.57w x 3.82h.  I cut this out of stencil film that I found at Michaels.  I cut with my normal settings and multi cut it 3 times.

My intent was to mask off the flourish, so I set it on my canvas.

I spritzed Glimmer Mist on the canvas.

I made some of my own Glimmer Mist.  To see how I made my own Glimmer Mist, go HERE.

I kept adding more mist a little at a time.

When I took my flourish off, I saw that the mist seeped under my mask a bit, but I still really liked the look so I kept going.

Here is my cavnas after it dried.

I cut out Adore from Home Decor at 6.09w x 3.04h in purple vinyl.  In order to cut out vinyl, set your cricut on 3-3-3 (speed, pressure, blade depth) to just cut through the vinyl not the backing.

I take my "Dental Tool" to weed out the extra vinyl.  It helps to roll up the vinyl as you peel it away so it doesn't stick to your project

Then I poke the inside pieces with my tool and pull them off the backing.

Here it is ~ now to get it off the backing.

I use Clear Contact paper.  I cut a piece of it the same size as my project and then peel it off the backing.  ****DIRTY IT UP A BIT ON YOUR JEANS so it doesn't still too well to the vinyl!!  Rub the project so it clings to the contact paper.

Start at a corner and peel the contact paper up.

Place the contact paper on your project (easel) and rub it.

Start at the corner again and slowly peel the contact paper off.  If the vinyl doesn't stick at first, just put it back and rub some more.

Vinyl is very forgiving if you are patient!!

Here is my canvas with the vinyl on it.

To finish it off, I added some flowers, pearls, tulle and a charm.

I "adore" my canvas and hope you do too!!

You should have arrived here from Josy's BLOG.
I have blog candy that you will see below!

I chose to create a 12 x 12 tile decorated with vinyl for my first project of the blog hop this weekend.  I used my Gypsy to line up my three layers.  I wanted a true 12 inch title, so I started my title at the 1" mark and filled it up to the 13" mark.  In order to do this, you need to use a 12 x 24 mat.

Here are the three layers on my Gypsy screen ~ each layer will be cut in a different color.  The title will be yellow and can be found on the Creative Memories Reminisce Accents.  I used Hide Contour to erase the swirl between "this" and "day."  The Turkey can be found on Celebrate With Flourish and will be brown.  The top layer will be a rust red, and the font is from CM Reminisce Accents and the So Grateful is from Calligraphy Collection.

When cutting vinyl on your cricut, you want to remember 3~3~3.  That is Speed, Pressure and Blade settings.  This will give you a nice kiss cut (the blade will only cut through the vinyl, not the backing).

Here is the yellow vinyl for my 12" title.

I love the dental tool for weeding the extra vinyl away.

You can poke vinyl and pull it right up.

It is helpful to roll up the excess vinyl so it doesn't stick to your design.  It is easy to lose the little pieces  (like dots for the i's) as you roll away.

I use clear contact paper as my transfer sheet.  It is very sticky, so I stick it on my jeans once or twice to take away a little stick!

I use my little scraper from my Cricut tool kit to burnish the design onto the transfer sheet and gently pull it up.

I use the same scraper to burnish the image and transfer sheet to the tile.  Just peel it up slowly, rolling the transfer sheet as you go.
Repeat the process for layer #2.  I use my Fiskars cutting mat to help center my title.

Here is the tile with all four layers on.  This will make a great addition to my living room where my "every day" tile usually sits.

Now on to the Candy!!!  In order to qualify you need to do 2 things.....#1 be or become a follower and #2 leave me a comment that includes at least one thing you are thankful for this year.  I will combine the comments from today's post and tomorrow's post (so you can enter once each day) and draw a winner.

If I reach 300 followers, I will pick 2 winners (I am currently at 285).
