Pirate Girl Shape Card

This week at She's A Sassy Lady, Sheila has challenged us to make a shape card by welding two shapes together.

My friend Mariana needed a pirate card for a little girl who is turning 2.  I thought this would be a fun card to make into a shape card!!

I sized all the pieces from Paper Doll Dress Up to 4 inches.  I copied, flipped and welded two shadow people to create my card.

I used Hide Contour to hide the eyes, nose and mouth on the body.

I used this Peachy Keen stamp for her face.  I liked that she is winking here as I wanted to patch one eye AARG!!

Here are the pieces all put together.  I used stickles for the patch, nail polish, shoe buckle and hair.

I put a gem flower in her hair and ring on her finger ~ isn't she stinkin' cute?!?

Here is a side view.

My card would not be complete without a Sassy envelope.  If you want to see Sheila's video on how to make any sized envelope, go HERE!

Be sure to check out Sheila's post and Gypsy Made Simple video HERE and you too can link up your project!!

Wedding Partial Shape Card (Gypsy Made Simple)

If you are looking for the All About Dad's Blog Hop, please go HERE.  My blog candy is up for grabs until Monday, June 6th!

Today I made a card for Sassy's Gypsy Made Simple challenge.  Her challenge is to make a Weddng Card that is a Partial Shape Card.

The first thing I did was to create an A2 card template.  This is basically an 11 x 4.25 rectangle.  Save this file, then re-open it as a Template.  Next, I put a 9 x 4.25 rectangle over the template.  I took the Champagne glasses from Wedding Cartridge sized at 4.25 height and welded the shadow to the card so the total width of the card was 11 inches.  I cut out the other two layers at 4.25 height.  I found the sentiment from Holiday Cakes and sized it at 4.31w x 1.71h.

I cut out the pieces, assembled them on the card, scored the fold and had my card!!

This card was very easy and quick to make....it is the first of many partial shape cards I think!!!

Tri-Shutter Birthday Card

Here is my tri-shutter card for Gypsy Made Simple at ShesASassyLady.  On Sheila's blog, you can download the Gypsy file she created in exchange for a donation for the Tornado victims in Alabama where she lives.

I started my card before I learned about Sheila's challenge.  She motivated me to finishe it and post it!!

I started with some basic squares and a tag.  My tag is 6.08w x 4.14h (rotated 90 degrees).  I hid the slit in the tag.  The small rectangle is 1.68w x 3.76h (rotated 90 degrees).  I welded a tag from Storybook 2.61w x 3.74h (rotated 90 degrees).  My bigger rectangle is 2.99w x 3.95h (yes this one is rotated too 90 degrees) and I welded an oval to the top .89w x 3.86h (rotated 90 degrees).

Before I welded these three parts of the card together, I made a separate layer and copied each of the three shapes on it.

The first test cut ~ my shortest layer was too short.

Second test cut ~ the shorter layer is better, but the middle layer is too short.

Third test cut ~ perfect!

I found the birdie on the banner, the sentiments and the font from Birthday Bash

Here is the layer with the individual pieces on it so I can cut out paper to cover the pieces.  You can skip this step if you used patterned 2-sided cardstock for your card base.  I wanted a different color for each page so that did not work for me.

I put everything together and stickled the details on the birdie and flags.  I used twine on the banner.  I used the sentiments because I did not have a stamp that worked for this card.

Once you make a card base for a tri-shutter card, you can save your project.  You can later open it up and add the extra pieces and setiments and "Save As" the name of a different project, that way you will always have your original card base to work from!!

Birthday Cards

First of all, Happy Mother's Day to all of the mothers out there!!  We have three birthdays in our family close to Mother's Day, my brother (he turns 40 this year), my sister-in-law and me.  I was motivated by Sheila's card challenge at ShesASassyLady Gypsy Made Simple challenge yesterday to create these two cards.

I used Mickey Font for both cards.  I took he shadow of 40 and hid the inside cuts on the numbers.  I kerned and welded the two numbers together, then copied and pasted and flipped a second set of numbers.  I welded the two sets of 40 together to create the card and cut it out in black.  I cut out a regular set of numbers and cut them out in a gray and white paper with a circular pattern.

I folded the card in half.  I used black paper that was white on the back so I could write on the inside of the card.  I added some black stickle dots on the numbers after I assembled the card.

For my SIL Wind, I made a "W" card.  Windy is not a fussy, girly girl so I stuck with a pretty paper and blue card.  I added a sheer ribbon instead of a little flower as it suits her better.

Here is the card on my Gypsy.

And here is the card pieces cut out.  I folded the card in half.  I tied the ribbon to the "W" before I glued it to the card.

I inked the paper with black ink and added the stickle dots.

Here is the card for Windy.

For a Sassy tutorial, please go HERE.  Consider making a card of your own and linking it to her blog ~ she loves when we use her ideas/instructions!!  Sheila has a Gypsy Made Simple every Saturday!!
