Disney Blog Hop

Welcome to the Disney Pixar Blog Hop!

Disney and crafting are a magical combination, and we are so happy you joined us to day for this blog hop.  Some of the crafters participating in this event have been doing this together since 2011!  Over the years the hop has grown but one thing has always stayed the same . . . amazing crafting projects that feature your favorite characters from Disney and Pixar movies.

For 2016 we are going to attempt to have a hop every other month for the entire year . . . February, April, June, August, October and December.  If you are on Facebook you can like the group page so that you can be the first to learn about each upcoming event.  Just click HERE to go the the Facebook page.

To make sure you don't miss any of the fun, be sure to start at Shawn's blog to see all of the projects.  Just click HERE to head over to her blog and then follow the hop line up at the bottom of the post to see everyone's projects.

I just returned from a trip to Walt Disney World January 7th and want to go back already!!!  I got to see my friend Melissa Allore who was an original participant in this blog hop!

Before we left for Disney World, I wanted to decorate my Magic Band.  I grabbed the band from the last trip and practiced on that one first.

I took a fine tip paint pen and traced the Mickey head.  It was a little plain but better than blank.  I colored it in white (not pictured) but the paint did not cover well.  I was afraid it would rub off.  So back to Pinterest I went.

I found this Mickey headband image and traced it with my Silhouette Program and cut it out in black 651 vinyl.  I added my initial in a fun font.  Not every L looks good so I had to find one that I liked and fit the space well.

Tanner wanted his done too.

After 11 days at WDW, my Magic Band looked the same.  Tanner's T peeled off around day 9 - it lasted longer than I thought it would!!

My next project was inspired by a shirt that popped up on Shawn's newsfeed.  I traced the hand and used a font from my computer to create this shirt out of HTV (heat transfer vinyl) and my heat press!  My husband can wear it on our next trip!!!

Here are some of our favorite pictures from this trip.  I kind of miss waiting in line to meet the Characters.  Tanner is 10 now and prefers riding the rides.  The only characters we saw were the Star Wars Characters and the ones at our two character breakfasts.

Before you go, make sure to enter to win our prize for this hop . . . a Disney paper pack from Queen & Co.

The paper stack will not even be shipping out to stores until late February 2016, so you can have it before the stores are even selling it!  Note: Due to the fact that we received this paper stack so early, it is considered a promotional proof and there could be some slight variations from what will be shipped to stores.

No Soliciting Sign - Funny

Today I am sharing this fun project at my friend Sheila's BLOG!  My friend saw a sign similar to this on FaceBook and asked if I could make her one.  She is a beer girl - no wine or foo foo drinks - so she thought this was perfect!!  She has had a lot of foot traffic in her neighborhood this summer.  With 2 dogs, it gets crazy when solicitors come to the house several times a day!!
I started out with a black burlap canvas panel from Michaels size 9 x 12.  If you only have a white canvas, you could paint it black for this step.
I used my cameo but this could also be made with another cutting program.  I put a 9 x 12 rectangle on my mat colored black as my canvas.  I made 2 rounded corner rectangles in white.  I did an internal offset of the smaller rectangle to create the red one.

I used the cutting tool to trim the top off of the bigger white rectangle to mimic the original sign.

No Soliciting is LEArchitect font and I made a compound path with the red rectangle that "cut out" the letters.

I used Arial font for the first three sentences.

I used Front Page News font for the Seriously sentence.

I used Impact for Please Go Away!

All of these fonts were either on my computer or downloaded from dafont.com.
I used the white spaces to help me size the words.

I separated the pieces and cut the white on one mat, the black pieces on another mat and finally the red.  I could have combined the black and red on one mat, but I made other black and red cuts at the same time!

The hardest part of using vinyl on canvas is getting the vinyl to stick to the canvas.  The larger white pieces adhered pretty well.
I hot glued twine to the back of the canvas and added two felt feet on the bottom of the back.

My friend was so excited about this - she sent me a picture of the sign hanging on her door!!

Thank you Sheila for having me on your blog today!!!

Dad Blocks

Lori here from ScrappinMyStressAway with a fun project for Dad.

I had a special request for a Father's Day gift for my neighbor.  She is one of my best customers -she researches fun projects and asks me to make them for her!!

I took photos of her three grandkids and copied them in black and white on photo paper.  I had some 3" blocks left over from some home décor from years ago.  Yes I keep things for years hoping to repurpose them...No I am not a hoarder!!!
I cut out two sets of letters spelling Dad and put them on two sides of the block.  I decided to put them on opposite sides so you could see pictures on each side of the letters.

I trimmed the pictures and used mod podge to adhere them.  I put a coat of mod podge on the block and another coat on top of the photo.  Once the blocks dried, I added a final coat of mod podge.
Kyle loved his gift and is going to put these on his desk.

When my son was a baby, I made smaller blocks that spelled his name and had photos of him.  I still have those 9 years later!!

Thanks Sheila for letting my share this project with you on your blog!!

Wood Sign - Wedding Gift

Hello!!  May is a month of celebrations!!  Mother's Day, Graduation, Birthdays and Weddings.

Today I am featured at Sheila's BLOG with one of my very favorite wedding gift ideas.  I made this for my friend to give as a gift.

I used my Silhouette Cameo to design my stencils.  I cut the heart, name, date and LOVE out of vinyl.
I painted some turquoise chalk paint on my wood sign blank.  The sign is made from old fence boards.  I then used a stencil to paint the heart using a maroon paint.  I used my electric sander to distress the paint a bit.
Next, I placed the words and date where I wanted them using clear contact paper from the Dollar Tree and my Pampered Chef scraper.
I slowly painted with white paint.
As soon as I finished painting, I peeled vinyl right up.  Any imperfections are ok as I will sand and distress the sign again when the paint dries.
I love making personalized signs!

Thank you for having me on your blog today Sheila!!!

Dentist Humor Wine Glasses

I made these wine glasses for my sons' dentist.  She is a good friend of ours and takes wonderful care of my boys' teeth!!!  I made enough wine glasses for the staff too (a variety of my most popular designs) and will bring a bottle or two of wine to our next appointment.

I have a lot of fun with my wine glasses!!  I looked up funny dentist sayings on Google and re-created these using my Silhouette Cameo.

St. Pat's Day Wine Glasses

I created a few designs for St. Patrick's Day!  I have several friends who send me ideas and both of these ideas were shared with me!

I have a wine glass that says Kiss My Glass - we just added a bit of Irish to it!
This image was on a shirt, but I put it on a beer mug (for my girls who prefer green beer).
I also added this on a wine glass.

Have a happy and safe St. Patrick's Dau!!!

I sell my wine glasses at Twisted Vine in Papillion, NE as well as take personal orders.

Travel Quotes

Hello and Happy March!!!  Spring is getting closer!!!

Today I am sharing a Pinterest inspired project at Sheila's BLOG.  I have been dreaming of travelling someplace warm with no snow or freezing rain!!!

I have some old maps and wanted to frame them.  I have one 8 x 10 frame and one 5 x 7 frame.
I took two of my favorite travel quotes and put them on my mat.  One I traced, but the other I recreated using a font on my computer (Ballerina Script from dafont.com).

I wanted the vinyl on the inside of the glass, so I flipped the quotes and put them on my cutting mat.
Weeding the quotes was interesting!
Once they were weeded I decided I wanted to put the images on the outside of the glass and then flip the glass over.  That way I could center the quotes to the frame.  Some 8 x 10 frames are not exactly the same size as the glass if the frame sides are thick.
I used my clear contact paper to transfer the images to the glass.
Next, I took the frame apart and flipped the glass over.
The brown frames looked ok, but I wanted to jazz them up.  I painted them turquoise and coral.  Once the paint was dry, I distressed the frames with a little brown paint.
Here's to you and any future training you may do!!!

Thanks Sheila for having me over today!!!

Wedding Heart Wood Sign

Today I am a Guest Designer at my dear friend Sheila's BLOG.  I have a wedding or anniversary project to share with you today.  I found these heart shaped wood signs in the dollar section of Target for $3.  They are well made and I wish they had more than 2 left when I found them!!
I beat them up with a hammer a bit and stained them with a Natural wood stain.  After the second coat of stain dried, I inked the edges and divots to give it a little dimension.
I cut out these two stencils out of Oramask (stencil vinyl) to use as a stencil.  This vinyl does not stick very well to wood, so I had to be very careful and paint slowly (which is very hard for me)!
I painted two coats and touched up the paint after I removed the stencil.
I added the twine back on and they are done!!

Thanks for joining us today!!!

I found some inspiration on Pinterest after my friend lost her wedding ring.  She would put it on the kitchen counter while she did the dishes.  One evening, she forgot to put her ring back on.  The next time she looked on the counter - it was gone!  Long story short - the ring was in the trash on accident (thanks to her young son) and dad found it!!  I wanted to make her a little ring dish to keep by the sink!  Naturally, I went to Pinterest to see some ideas!

I loked the sparkly gold in this ring dish.  The pin can be found HERE.
I purchased two small square dishes/bowls from Target.  I used a similar font from my computer and cut it out in gold vinyl.  I also cut out some small circles in gold.
I thought the dish looked a little plain without the dots (I was not a fan of the dots at first).

I also found another idea that would work well for a wedding gift.
I liked the Mr. Mrs. dish.  You can see this pin HERE.
I cut this design out of black just like the pin.  I can't wait to give this one to my friend's daughter for her wedding!!

Your next stop will be with CANDACE!
