Baseball is Life Layout

Today at Frosted Designs our new challenge is Red, White and/or Blue, Something Old and Something New.

I was thinking 4th of July, but baseball just fit for me right now!  I hoard baseball paper and both of these papers are Old!!!  I rarely use rub ons but still buy them......the Baseball Is Life is a rub on and it is also Old!!  It describes my life at this very moment.  I am typing this as we get ready to leave for State Baseball this morning!

This photo is of my Husband (coach) Middle Son (coach) and Youngest Son (player) after winning our annual tournament on Father's Day.  Proud of all three of these boys!!
I used my New burlap ribbon and metal charm.  The charm says LOVE LIFE and the metal goes with the trophy in the photo!

I hope you join us at Frosted Designs with a fun project of your own!!!

Pals Layout

This week at Frosted Designs our challenge is to try String Art. Alternatively you can use string or twine in a creative way.

I struggled with this challenge - I won't lie!!!  Most of my photos in my "to be scrapped" pile are of my son Tanner.  It is hard to make boyish embellishments!!!
I took this wood polaroid shape and used DMC floss to cross stitch the bottom.  I then cut out the word Pals from my Silhouette Cameo and wound red thread around the letters.  It looks a bit Halloween-ish but I like how it turned out!
These two boys were together a lot this year so I thought this Together sign was perfect!
Instead of matting my photo, I made a frame around it using DMC floss.  I used Glossy Accents to stick it in place.

I hope you join us at Frosted Designs - I can't wait to see everyone's take on this challenge!!

Mom Layout

Our challenge at Frosted Designs is all about Mom!!  You can celebrate your mom, you being a mom, your Aunt (or any other mom) or even a person who is not a mom but has awesome mom qualities!!!

My mom died in 1989 when I was 20.  I am currently older than she got to be.  My plan was to have a big birthday party (my birthday is Monday) to celebrate that I "made it" past her oldest age....now that my birthday is near, I am consumed with guilt.  This really surprised me as these powerful emotions have been absent for almost 20 years.

I was avoiding this project and almost did a layout of my boys instead.  But I went looking in the old photo albums and only found a few photos of just me and my mom.  This photo is at my 6th birthday party.  My mom always made our cakes - this year she made me a heart cake!
I added some handwriting and details on my page.  I also used some buttons, lace and pearls.  I don't usually use pink in my layouts, but I just loved the floral print paper.
I tucked these pretty flowers next to the photo.

I used the green paper to mat my photo - it was yellowing around the edges and white or cream washed out the photo.
I inked the pink doilies on my background and added a small strip of pink cardstock at the top.  I used my Cameo to cut my title.

Happy Mother's Day to all of the Moms, Grandmas, Step-Moms, and awesome mother figures!!!!!  Have a wonderful weekend!!!

Spring Challenge - Spring Baseball (of course)

Today begins a brand new challenge at Frosted Designs - Spring!  This can be a spring picture, spring in the title or an actual spring in your project!!  Have some fun with it and join us HERE!

Of course being a baseball mom, spring means the beginning of baseball season.  I used some photos of Tanner pitching in our Spring Tournament.  The top 4 teams from Nebraska (as of state last July) played the top 4 teams from Iowa.  We took 3rd place.
I inked the papers with two shades of brown (aka dirt color) and made the frame darker.  I spritzed some gold mist on the background.  I trimmed this Live the Life You Have Imagined and inked it up - I think Tanner is totally doing that right now!!  I even tucked a burlap flower on!
I printed my title out using my Silhouette Studio and kraft cardstock.
I love how this one turned out and will frame it for now!!  I hope you have a wonderful spring!!

Everything used is from Frosted Designs except Tim Holtz Distressed Inks and the kraft cardstock.

Tanner Spring Picture LO

Today begins a brand new challenge at Frosted Designs - Splatter!!  I watered down some brown acrylic paint and flicked it off the paint brush onto my paper.  I also took some Dirty Martini Dylusions Ink and poured it in a cup.  I took a paintbrush and flicked it on the paper.
I inked the photo mat and stapled a strip of burlap behind my picture.
This little journal card was perfect for this layout - this is his spring school photo!
I cut my title using my Silhouette Cameo with brown cardstock.

This layout was fun!!  Boys are messy and I see lots of splatters in my house!!!

Bingo & Books Layout

This week begins a new challenge at Frosted Designs!  Our challenge is Drip, Drip, Drip (using inks and/or paint).

This layout is Tanner's Books and Bingo night during our Scholastic Book Fair.  Every bingo winner gets to pick a book.  It was pretty cut throat at our table!!!

I really liked the papers from our Out of the Blue Kit and I decided to drip a little on them!
I used Tim Holtz White Distress Paint to drip some paint as well as make circles with the lid.
I picked up the paper and let the paint run.  The paint is very thin but I did let it dry overnight.
I spritzed this paper with Perfect Pearls heirloom gold.  It softened the paper a bit.  Brown/gold is always a good boy color!!
I used African Jade Silks Acrylic Glaze to color a bit of burlap to mat my photo.  I also used it to color my title - I printed Books and Bingo using my Silhouette studio.  I added some glaze bingo dots and I inked the edges of my "shutter" paper.

Come get messy with us at Frosted Designs!!!  Come check out our monthly kits and messy add ons HERE!

Enjoy the Little Things (Giraffes)

This week begins a new challenge at Frosted Designs - Pink!  People who know me know I am not a pink girl.  I have 3 boys and have never been a girly girl.  I prefer my pink subtle - and that is reflected here in my layout too.

I LOVE giraffes and I LOVE the papers in our newest Kit Out of  the Blue!  We went to the zoo on Christmas Eve and saw the baby giraffe - he is sooooo cute!!!

I tried using more pink (we have some fabulous pink papers in the Sweet Love Kit) but the shades and flowers just did not look as good with my photos.

I added some pink with ink and Art Sugar.  I dipped the flowers in decoupage glue and poured the art sugar over them.
I inked these white flowers with light pink art sugar from the Sweet Love Kit.  I cut apart some papers to add some layers.  I inked the edges of the papers with Peaches Mixed Media Inx.
I used Glossy Accents and Art Sugar to fill in the heart on this metal leaf clip.
I added some chipboard hearts on the top corner.
I just love these papers - very shabby chic!!!

Please join us with your pink projects HERE!!

Gift Bag With Handmade Flowers

Today begins a new challenge at Frosted Designs - Handmade Flowers and Recycled Item.  This project can be a layout, card, canvas, gift bag or other project!!

I decorated a gift bag for my project today.
I started with some recycled book pages and a Tim Holtz flower die cut.  I ran the die cut and book pages through my Cuttlebug.  I cut several sets of the large and medium flowers.
I played around with some Dylusions Ink and settled on Bubblegum Pink.
I layered some large flowers and used a small brad to hold them together.  I rolled some of the petals with a pencil and bent others.  I glued the flower to the top of the bag and glued a gem in the center.
I covered the bag with scrapbook paper and added a bit of ribbon between the two papers.

I put a smaller flower on the bottom corner of the bag.
For the tag, I used one of the smaller flowers on the top with a gem.  I stamped a flower on the tag in moss green and the word LOVE on the bottom.
I love how the bag turned out!!

Key to My Heart Canvas

This week starts a new challenge at Frosted Designs - Get Messy!!  Use at least 2:  Mist, Ink, paint, molding paste and/or gesso.

I used a 6 x 6 canvas, some mists, ink and paint to create my project.
I started out with this canvas from the Forever Yours Kit and some Dylusions Ink.
I misted and misted and layered the Bubblegum Pink and After Midnight Dylusions Ink.
I placed the Mini Love Post template over my canvas and used White Linen Dylusions Ink over the template.  The strangest thing happened - my colors did not turn white (as I expected) they became more vibrant!!
I loved it even more!!
I used up the drops of extra ink with a paper towel and inked the sides of the canvas.  I then inked the edges of the canvas with Picket Fence distressed paint.
I added a bit of detailing on the edges and the hearts with African Jade Silks Acrylic Glaze.  I love the depth this blue adds.
I really did not want to cover up too much of my canvas.  I hand cut a heart out of an adhesive piece of canvas.  I used Pearlescent Orchid Dew Drop ink and Teal Damask ink to add dimension to the heart.  I added the pearls and lace (from Sweet Love Kit) and key to finish the canvas.  I call this Key to My Heart.

7 Dwarf Mine LO

Today begins a brand new challenge at Frosted Designs - What Direction?  You can show movement on your project, use arrows, use words that show movement (on the move, let's go) or use words that describe movement (north, east, south, west, forward).  Easy Peasy!!!

My layout is a picture of our family (all 7 of us) on the new Seven Dwarf Mine (7DM) ride at Magic Kingdom.  The picture takes automatically and is linked to our magic bands.

My husband is in the front seat in the dark shirt, oldest and youngest are behind him, middle and I are next and Mike's parents are in the last car.  It was a fun ride, but I would not wait more than 20 minutes to ride it - would totally ride it with a fast pass.  The ride is super short but extremely smooth!
I used this sticker from the We Are Family kit.  The paper and clock are from the Forever Yours kit.
I used Juniper acrylic paint dauber to color my white photo mat and the wood ticket shape.
I can't wait until our next trip to Disney to ride this one again!!!

You can join our challenge HERE.

Products used:
Paper, ribbon and wood pieces from Forever Yours Kit
Sticker from We Are Family Kit

A New Friend (Frosted Designs Layout)

Today starts a new challenge at Frosted Designs!  The Challenge is A New (_________).  This can be a resolution, goal or event.  Have fun with it and join us HERE!

We went to Disney World in November.  I have a Facebook friend, Melissa, who is a fellow Disney Lover!  Some people find us Disney Lovers kind of weird - Why do you go to Disney so much?  Weren't you just there?  Again?!?!?  I think we are long lost cousins! Her family moved from Michigan to the Orlando area last summer.

She has a son named Tanner who is a year older than my Tanner.  The Tanners got to meet for the first time and hit it off right away!!  We spend a few hours together on two days of our trip.

Melissa and I got to meet in person for the first time - but we have known each other for years!  We first met doing Disney/Pixar Blog Hops!  Melissa gave us a few pointers.  This was our first time at Disney with the Christmas decorations, shows and party.

It was perfect in this photo that my Tanner's shirt matched Melissa, and her Tanner's shirt matched me!!  I used orange papers from We Are Memory Keepers (Artisan) and Basic Grey (Fresh Cut) along with blue cardstock.

I pop-dotted these banner flags (Naturals wood shapes) after I inked the edges black.  I added the little cameras because it was totally a Kodak moment!!!
I tucked the title at the bottom with these tall, skinny letters!
The boys exchanged information and plan on keeping in touch.  Until next time we can come down!!
