Making Love Signs!

I have been pretty busy painting wood signs since September and have neglected my blog a bit.  I find it easier to post to my facebook business page from my cell phone when I am away from my desk.  If you would like to see some of my work, you can see them HERE.

I am getting ready for a Love themed craft show and here are some of the signs I have painted:

These are made with pallet wood or fence boards.  I make stencils with my Cameo and paint with acrylic paint.  It started out as fun but has grown into a nice way to make some extra money for baseball, Christmas and vacation funds.

Wood Sign - Wedding Gift

Hello!!  May is a month of celebrations!!  Mother's Day, Graduation, Birthdays and Weddings.

Today I am featured at Sheila's BLOG with one of my very favorite wedding gift ideas.  I made this for my friend to give as a gift.

I used my Silhouette Cameo to design my stencils.  I cut the heart, name, date and LOVE out of vinyl.
I painted some turquoise chalk paint on my wood sign blank.  The sign is made from old fence boards.  I then used a stencil to paint the heart using a maroon paint.  I used my electric sander to distress the paint a bit.
Next, I placed the words and date where I wanted them using clear contact paper from the Dollar Tree and my Pampered Chef scraper.
I slowly painted with white paint.
As soon as I finished painting, I peeled vinyl right up.  Any imperfections are ok as I will sand and distress the sign again when the paint dries.
I love making personalized signs!

Thank you for having me on your blog today Sheila!!!

Wedding Heart Wood Sign

Today I am a Guest Designer at my dear friend Sheila's BLOG.  I have a wedding or anniversary project to share with you today.  I found these heart shaped wood signs in the dollar section of Target for $3.  They are well made and I wish they had more than 2 left when I found them!!
I beat them up with a hammer a bit and stained them with a Natural wood stain.  After the second coat of stain dried, I inked the edges and divots to give it a little dimension.
I cut out these two stencils out of Oramask (stencil vinyl) to use as a stencil.  This vinyl does not stick very well to wood, so I had to be very careful and paint slowly (which is very hard for me)!
I painted two coats and touched up the paint after I removed the stencil.
I added the twine back on and they are done!!

Thanks for joining us today!!!

Wine Wishes

Happy Saturday!!

I purchased some wood blanks at Michaels and painted them white.  I found these wine saying in the Silhouette store and cut them out in vinyl.  I painted over the vinyl.

Once dry, I peeled the vinyl off and distressed the wood.
These sign are fun to make!

I hope your glass is always half full!!

My project for today is:

I made this fun sign for a friend.  I saw a similar sign on Pinterest and decided to make one too!
I used fonts on my computer and designed this on my Silhouette Cameo.  I cut it out in black vinyl and put it on my board (that I painted white).
I painted over the vinyl in red acrylic paint.
When the paint was dry, I peeled the vinyl off.  I also used a white eraser to rub off any leftover sticky residue.  It helps to use removable vinyl!!
I sanded the sign a bit then spray sealed it.

Words of Inspiration

Inspiration for thought.
My friend Michelle Homme has a wonderful book, blog and facebook page.  She is a Women's Group Leader and Motivational Speaker.  She is a Giver and a Doer.  She is an inspiration to me!

I put her words (quotes) on tiles, wood and metal.  She sells these items, along with bracelets, necklaces, magnets and her books.  She has an ETSY page as well.

Why am I telling you this?  Well, because I mentioned that she is an inspiration to me.  Her current project (if you will) is collecting clothing, pajamas and scrapbook supplies for a homeless women's shelter.  These ladies need business clothes for the job they are required to have in order to live there.  They now have a revolving closet of clothes, shoes and accessories thanks to Michelle.  She wants to give these ladies a pajama party for fun!  All moms know that when a baby is born, all the gifts are for the baby - Michelle wanted to give the moms a nice pair of pjs.

Here are some of the recent signs I designed for Michelle:
These marble tiles are 3" x 8" and I put two of her quotes on them in black vinyl.  I used my Cameo and fonts from my computer to design them.
This is a black metal 8" x 8" sign.  I copied and traced her quote from Pinterest and cut it out on my Cameo in light blue vinyl.
This is another black metal 8" x 8" sign.  I used a font from my computer and lime green vinyl for this one.
These wood signs are 3" x 9".  I painted two of them black and two of them brown.  I cut out the quotes in vinyl and placed them on the wood.  I painted over the vinyl.
Once the paint was dry, I peeled off the vinyl letters so the black (and brown) showed through.  I sanded, inked the edges and sealed them.
If the words on these signs have inspired you at all, consider checking out Michelle's Pinterest page for more!
